3 spurs players. You would know they voted on this months ago

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

    3 Spurs players is ridiculous!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

Wait, Ageuro was nominated for player and young player of the year and didn't even make the squad!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,656 ✭✭✭cgpg5

    Bale and Parker? WTF!

Delighted to see Colo in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

    Team is lacking Aguero.

    Is he on the bench?

Disagree with Bale being included. He's a nice lad though so he'll get the votes.

Not very often that you would see only one Man Utd player, that surely must be a first?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,656 ✭✭✭cgpg5

Walker over Richards? This is usually a joke anyway so I shouldn't be surprised tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

    Thoughts ?

A load of bollocks, as is typical of anything associated with ''FA''.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,763 ✭✭✭redzerdrog

parker is a decent player but very over rated

cabaye, tiote, modric, song and sigurdsson all more deserving imo

I thought walker had a very good year in a league with no stand out right back

It's reflective of Spurs' form at the time of voting. They weren't far off top when the majority of votes were cast. Fast forward 2 months and they've been found out.

Song should have it ahead of Parker.

Also I think there should be an option for a 4-3-3 formation at times like this.

    Valencia-Toure-Silva
    Aguero-RVP-Rooney

    Problem solved.

    Add Dempsey to that!

Think Walker is by far the least controversial of the 3 Spurs lads in the team. Would have had Micah there myself but it's close.

I don't think many will argue against Rooney and RVP being the two strikers tbh, although Aguero comes in just behind Rooney.

Does the formation need to be 442? :pac:

Richards cant make the Man City team anymore
Walker has been outstanding for Spurs

Nice to see Coloccini in it but Bale and Parker??? Taking the piss.

Holt, Graham, Sigurdsson, Dempsey all deserve a place in that team imo.

It'll spark a bit of debate of course but it's been a joke of a list for quite some time now.

I think room should made for him in there by changing the formation.

With two up top it has to be Rooney and RVP.

For all the praise RVP gets for his 27 goal tally Rooney is only one behind. When you factor in that he has played 4 games (+ 2 25 minute games) less than him then I don't think it's as impressive. If Rooney had played them games then I'd fancy him to be ahead of RVP at the moment in the goal charts.

He's been decent nothing more, completely overrated by the English media as he's a new English talent coming through. I guarantee you Richards will be in the team v Man U. Best right back in the league this season no question imo

    English palyers are overated
but even in Spurs bad run Walker has been excellent
he's nearly been playing in two positions at times when Van Der Vaart has started RW
name me one winger who has had the beating of Walker?
Real Madrid are rumoured to be looking at him

Nothing at all. Even a biased fan like you should find it a joke that 3 made it. Ye could well finish 6th and have 3x more than the champions!

Yeah you are right but these votes were cast a while back so the flaw is in the process. Are players supposed to look into the future and predict who loses form in final couple of months? I do believe Walker deserves his place though.

He's very fortunate that there are really no brilliant left wingers in the league. One of the better ones is Bale. Nani would give him a going over I reckon on the left. If he was on the other side of the pitch then he'd be destroyed by Valencia.

Arsenal, Chelsea, City to name a few don't play with an out an out left winger. HBA would give him a good going over too. He seems a good prospect to be fair. I'd like to be proven wrong about him. I think his defence is suspect though, might be better suited to wing?

This still doesn not mean he is not deserving haha. He could still be considered the best right back, all right backs play the same opponents over the course of a season.

Sigurdsson has only been playing in the league since January, no? Would imagine lads who have been playing the entire season would get preference. Agree 100% on keeper and backline, my main issue would be that Dempsey isn't in the team but overall not a bad choice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,975 ✭✭✭iMuse

Ched Evans named in the league 1 team of the year, must have been awkward announcing that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,762 ✭✭✭jive

    Vorm
    Richards, Kompany, Coloccini, Cole;
    Silva, Yaya Toure, Dempsey, Bale;
    Rooney, van Persie

Would have Valencia in there if I could but think Silva/Bale (in b4 valencia has been way better than bale omg) have been better over the course of the season. Also would nearly squeeze Aguero in ahead of Rooney but haven't because my memory is probably skewed by his recent poor form (even though he has like 4 in 2 he's fairly shít of late).

Changes I made was Hart for Vorm, Walker for Richards (I think Walker is waaaaaay overrated and don't think he should have won young player but w/e), Baines for Cole (I think Cole has been overlooked, thought he had a solid year but may have been left out due to judging him on previous and superior seasons, I still think he has been the best LB in the league) Parker for Dempsey (Dempsey has been way better than Parker both at the start of the year and now, but Dempsey ain't English)

Where's Koscielny? He's been superb all year. Song and Dempsey should be in the team as well.

This. I know Baines has been decent all year but still think Cole has been definitely better. Think Krul had a better season than Vorm though, but tight. Al Habsi deserves a mention too

    Championship Team of the year.

Kelvin Davis (Southampton), Nathaniel Clyne (Crystal Palace), James Tomkins (West Ham), Curtis Davies (Birmingham), Ian Harte (Reading), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Peter Whittingham (Cardiff), Mark Noble (West Ham), Matt Phillips (Blackpool), Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley).

I don't know, I just think he deserves to be in the team. I have watched every Arsenal match this year and he has been consistently brilliant throughout the season. I have seen Kompany and Coloccini play a fair few times as well, albeit not as often as I've seen Koscielny, and they've both had great years but if I was picking the team of the year Koscielny would be the first CB I would choose. Maybe I'd say the same thing about the other two if I watched every game of theirs this year, I don't know, but Laurent Koscielny has had a remarkable season. Vermaelen made the team of the year two years ago and his 2009/10 season was not as impressive as Koscielny's 2011/11 at all.

You must be joking, arsenal have conceded the most goals out of all teams in the TOP TEN:eek:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

Aren't Arsenal on track to concede a record number of Prem goals for the club this season? Don't think you could justify putting one of their centre backs in after conceeding that many.

Think Colo and Kompany are the right pairing.

    Eh, no they haven't!?!

    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/league-table.html

Fulham and WBA have conceded more, Coloccini's Newcastle just one less, Spurs and Chelsea just 4 and 5 less respectively.

If you took out the 8-2 result when Arsenal were in a state of disarray due to outgoing transfers and a ridiculous amount of injuries then they would have the 3rd fewest GA in the league. They also played for months without any recognised full backs, that didn't happen to any other team.

And even if they had've conceded more goals than any of the other teams in the top half, are you saying that that automatically means that all their defenders had bad seasons? How many times have you seen Koscielny play this year? Friends of mine are always telling me how sh!t Koscielny is but when I ask them how many times they have watched him play?, they're quick to shut up.

Yeah Colo has had more defending to do as they've had a much lower average possesion % than Arsenal so have been under greater pressure in games. He's also played most of the season without regular CB partner Taylor whose a massive loss for them.

Both wrong, Richards has been injured past few games hence him not being in the squad and only on the bench once, he is citys first choice right back of that there is little doubt and has been better than walker for me this season.

Walker gets young POTY yet hes not even the best young right back in the league, Richards is.

Be interesting to see who harry takes to the euros richards or walker?

The PFA awards are an absolute irrelevance, rendered as such by the format and timing of nominations and voting.

Bale has no business in a team of the season, but really - how can you judge a season award when money time in said season has yet to be played?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Scott Parker is now so overrated it's ridiculous. England will probably have him as first choice central midfielder this Summer and will end up flopping again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭smallerthanyou

No Chelsea players, well at least they got that right :(

Apart from that agree with the above that it's well obvious that these are voted for in early spring. It makes no sense to vote in Feb for what's supposed to be a season long prize. Season is only getting going in February!

I think Mata might have had a claim to be in the team but that's about it.
