    Hi there,

im trying to change things bit by bit, and Im planning on starting with my breakfast..

At the moment I 1 and a half weetabix with a spoon of splenda and skimmed milk, all mushed up and heated.

So, what Im asking is there anything majorly wrong with this.? Is there something I should be avoiding for weight loss?
Im trying to cut out bread too.

Should I throw out the weetabix and start eating porridge? Or just eggs?

IMO weekabix is full of sugar wouldn't be the best thing to be having for breakfast.
Change to porridge with fruit&Nuts or even better have eggs.

    Eggs are king.
Found an unopened pack of weetabix this morning had a couple because they taste lovely compared to Shredded wheat but when I logged it it had a huge amount of salt and sugar!
    Don't do it!

Porridge is better than shredded wheat, I am just trying to ween myself off bran flakes that have a higher sugar and then start getting used to porridge, you'll have more energy.

I had to ween myself of special k :D

Porridge is better. Eggs would be best.

I have porridge most mornings though. Can't really stomach the eggs.

I have a friend staying over the odd time that eats Weetabix for breakfast so I bought a box. Out of sheer laziness I had 4 of them the odd morning and I'm starving by 11. Normally I'd have porridge on its own and it'll keep me going until lunch time. Didn't know there was lots of sugar in them

I've always found porridge keeps me fuller for longer, it's also easy to add stuff to to mix it up so you don't get bored :)

Wow thanks, I had heard there was a lot of salt in them, but definitley didnt think the sugar!
And here was me adding splenda! Sweet tooth or what..

Cool, so maybe I will alternate between porridge and eggs for breakfast.

Trying to cut down majorly on the carbs, need to lose some weight before summer.

Cant look at photos of myself bulging out of little tops and shorts again!

Its actually quite low relative to other cereals. Weetabix is strangely not marketed as being healthy, while worse ones often are.

Weetabix is 4.4% sugar, branflakes are 22% sugar. If you asked the average person on the street I expect they would guess it was the other way around. Frosties are 37% sugar!

Shredded wheat is 0.9% sugar which is naturally occurring, so really the weetabix has ~ 3.5% added sugar, as some on the nutritional info is natural.

Weetabix is 0.26% sodium, branflakes are 0.4%, cornflakes 0.5%, so its relatively low in salt too.

I was thinking that weetabix couldn't be that high in sugar, they taste like cardboard! Always needed them loaded with something sweet so it didn't taste awful.

I make the porridge with soya milk & then stir in some linseed/cranberry/seed mix that I get in aldi. Delicious

So would I be better with the porridge or 2 weetabix?
    Sugar/salt/carb wise etc?

    I'm guessing porridge?
