Your cinema attendance for 2012, what are you going to see on the big screen

I can't really remember thew last drama I saw in the cinema, thrillers & blockbusters only for me I'm afraid.
I've no problem waiting 3 months or so for new releases to drop on DVD, I'm at that stage in life where I appreciate the bottle of red & the pause button.
Only film I regret missing last year in the cinema was The Tree of Life.

This year is panning out poorly on the cinema going front.
I'm locked on for Prometheus & TDKR but after that there's nothing until The Hobbit that would stir me from my lounge.
Yes, I've kids & it costs me 3 million squid for a babysitter & jumbo combo.

What other films are coming out this year that would be considered as a must see on the big screen ?.
How does my attendance compare to what you have planned this year ?.

    I'm planning on seeing;

    The Avengers
    TDKR
    Spiderman
    The Hobbit
    Prometheus

and thats all I can think of at the moment. If you're anyway interested in comic books I would recommend The Avengers. It sounds like it's going to be epic!

    My plan is too see:

    The Avengers
    TDKR
    Spiderman
    Prometheus
    Total Recall
    Expendables 2
    Resident evil
    Dredd
    Taken 2

& Riddick 3 if it comes out.

And I know I'm open to riddicule for saying some of those on here.

Not a fan of the comic book stuff (Avengers, Spiderman), but Prometheus for definite. I saw the Dark Knight on opening night and was underwhelmed so based on the reviews I'll see.

Bourne Legacy is also on the agenda.

It's (on paper) a great year for movies

    I plan to see;

    Avengers
    Spider-Man
    TDKR
    Total Recall
    Skyfall
    The Hobbit

Possibly The Raid, Taken 2, Lockout as well.

    Premetheus
    TDKR
    The Hobbit

The missus is gonna drag me to 'Snow White and the Huntsman'
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1735898/

Its a trade off for me dragging her to Premetheus :)

Haven't been so far this year.. last film I was either was either Scream 4 or The Social Network.

Hope to see 'The Cabin In The Woods' this weekend though.

As for the rest of the year: The Hobbit and TDKR without a doubt.. everything else is up in the air.

Well.. that's 2013.. but yeah, I'm relatively excited by it!

I'll be going to The Dark Knight Rises at least 6 times. I've watched the prologue about 50 times already, cant wait to see this film. Saw The Dark Knight 4 times in cinema and about 40 - 50 times since on bluray. I'm counting down the down the days to Dark Knight Rises. 94 days to go.

The Dark Knight Rises probably twice
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey at least three times
    The Amazing Spider-Man probably once
    The Expendables 2 probably once

The last films I have seen in the cinema were Hugo and The Grey

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,317 ✭✭✭kevohmsford

Will wait for the reviews before I go to see Prometheus. Hopefully it will be worth going to see.

The Hobbit is the big one for AV nerds like me with the 5k resolution, 60 frames per second with these new 3D cameras.
Those who have seen footage say it's a close to real life as we've ever gotten on screen.

So far I haven't made great use of the ol' cineworld card this year

Cabin in the Woods, The Artist, Lady in Black, Hunger Games, Titanic (GF :o)

    Plan on seeing:

    TDKR
    The Hobbit
    Prometheus
    Avengers
    MIB 3
    Spiderman
    Ted

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,202 ✭✭✭Rabidlamb

I don't get all the love for Spiderman, I 'm so disinterested I haven't even looked at a trailer, why reboot something that was rebooted a few years ago.
    One is not amused.

I'm not that excited about seeing it, but I know I will - loved Spidey as a kid :)

A reboot is justified after the mess they made of the last one with that third film!

I've abused my Cineworld card an awful lot this year thus far. (Just under 20 times )

I've no doubt I'll see a few films I haven't planned to see but I'm making it my business to attend the following:

    The Dark Knight Rises
    The Hobbit
    The Amazing Spiderman
    Avengers
    Ted
    American Pie Reunion
    Skyfall

2013? I thought it has a release date of 21st December, or is that just in the States?

Just checked .. yeah, summer of 2013. Odd. Still though, it's released on my birthday :D

I've been to the cinema at least twenty or thirty times this year, if not more: indeed, have seen seven films in the cinema in the last week alone (no joke) :pac:

Frankly, if I can see a film I want to see in the cinema, I will. I still think it's the single best way to become immersed in a film, 90% of the time without distractions (I think I have a fairly good run with avoiding idiots in the cinema).

Couldn't list all the films I plan on seeing in the cinema for the rest of the year, really. Pretty much every week throws up something new worth watching, often two or three films. Probably go to see Le Harve today, and the reviews for Breathing (out tomorrow) seem wildly enthusiastic. Will check out the Avengers, TDKR etc... naturally, but almost more excited by the prospect of a Makoto Shinkai attended screening of Children Who Chase Voices from Deep Below in July, even though I've seen the film.

    I've a pretty extensive list:

    Avengers
    The Dictator
    Men In Black 3
    Intouchables
    That's My Boy
    Brave
Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World
    Spider man
    Dark Knight Rises
    neighborhood watch
    Bourne Legacy
    Expendables 2
    Premium Rush
    The Campaign
    Finding Nemo 3D
    Looper

Sometimes i need to see movies in the cinema even if they wont be great cinema flicks because when they come out on dvd i'm not too bothered in buying/renting since my good telly packed in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

Avengers, Prometheus, TDKR, Spiderman, Piranha 3DD :pac: , Total Recall, Brave are all a given, other visits would be dependant on whats out or getting good reviews, blockbuster wise is looks to be a good summer.

I'm in the middle of studying for exams and finishing off essays at the minute so haven't been to the cinema much lately. I went to see This Must Be the Place and The Kid with a Bike last week and that was about it. There was loads of great films in the first two months of the year but there's nothing of late that really interests me. Some impressive looking blockbusters coming up though, so hopefully it won't be the write-off that last summer was.

I am such a blockbuster slut. Pretty much every movie on my cinema 'hit list' for 2012 is loaded with expensive special effects. I attend the cinema for the spectacle more than anything to be honest.
I did see the Descendants though so I can boast to have seen one cultured film in the cinema this year.

Is that getting a release here? I know it got a good reception at the Jamey Fest but haven't heard anything since.

    Aye, it's out in May.

It's also likely amongst the most brutally entertaining films you'll ever see.

    Also: The Master.

can't beat some exploding eye candy during the summer, I do go to smaller movies on my tod as well, daytime showings for non bluckbuster stuff, then go with friends to big movies, stuff like The Avengers is better with an audience

So far this year I have been to see The Hunger Games, The Phantom Menace, and........that's it. :(

    Plan on going to see:

    Avengers
Spider-man, this hasn't really captured my attention but I am a huge fan so I will be there.
    The Hobbit
I am heading away in June and hoping Prometheus will be one of the movies shown on the flight, if not I will head to see that too.

Despite its various flaws, I was actually surprised at how competent and diverting The Hunger Games was. I was certain it was going to be a PG-13 rethread of Battle Royale, and it was, but it also stood out on its own terms in crucial aspects. It's not great by any stretch, but it was certainly better than the unwarranted reputation that preceded it. At the very least, a blockbuster not entirely reliant on CGI explosions and one-dimensional protagonists was pleasantly unusual.

The Phantom Menace, now I know that's a piece of crap. A superfluous third dimension ain't convincing me otherwise.

The movie is a gory free-for-all, a horror film dressed up as an action film, and it's as pure a shot of adrenaline as any Tarantino fan could wish for.

Everything. Thanks to the unlimited card. And having a bunch of friends who all have it and we live in about a 2 block radius of the cinema. :D

Ons of the lads card is about to expire and they sent him an email saying "We estimate that during your first ten months you have saved over €513.11 by going Unlimited - based on the films you watched at the same cinema(s) compared to the cheapest adult ticket price at the specific cinema(s) and times you attended."

Nice... and maybe a little sad. LOL

Top notch year for blockbusters :D

    Also
    The Gangster Squad
    Cosmopolis
    On The Road
    Lincoln
    Gravity, if it's out

Travelling and in Oz so haven't really had the money to go cinema, only been twice this year. The Grey and then saw 21 Jump St on Tuesday.

Working now though and cinema beside me does a cheap Tuesday so will be going more. Things I'm definitely going to see will be:

    American Pie (on Tuesday)
    The Avengers (Tuesday after... :pac:)
    The Hobbit
    TDKR
    Spiderman
    World War Z
    Prometheus

Sydney has the biggest iMax in the world (I think) so I'll splash the cash and go see TDKR and possibly The Hobbit there

    The Dark Knight Rises
    &
    Total Recall Remake.

Am I alone in thinking that while sure there are movies I wanna see but not that pushed to actually goto the cinema and would rather wait till they came out to watch at home?

    The Avengers
    Cosmopolis
    The Dark Knight Rises
    Himizu
    The Hobbit
    Looper
    The Master
    Only God Forgives
    Prometheus
The Raid (Again! Other than TDKR I highly doubt another blockbuster this year will reach its heights)
    Stoker
    Turin Horse

I hope there's some new Coen Bros too.

Ah, at least Charlie Casanova is different, and I'm not one to begrudge that. But boy it's an easy film to hate.
