    As per the thread title.

On the one hand you have team of English football stalwarts who have been superb throughout their careers, and it would be a fitting way for some of them bow out.

On the other hand you have a lot of detestible characters.

So Chelsea for the Champions League, yay or nay?

(I'd like to see them win it just to see the outrage at JT lifting the trophy surrounded by Drogba, Cashley and Lamps)

I'd like to see Bayern win it, but I'd support Chelsea ahead of the 2 spanish clubs.

Same here if im being honest, Real first, then Bayern, then Chelsea and just plain and simply dont want Barca to win it.

Not too bothered but a part of me is leaning towards yay, I think they have worked hard to get to the position they are in and also I have been very impressed with Torres this season, he is obviously struggling for goals but has not complained and 110% in every game I have seen him play, so would like to see him be some kind of hero in the final if they get there.

Real Madrid for me. Always had a soft spot for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,465 ✭✭✭kitakyushu

Depends who they'd play in final.

I'd have no problem seeing them beat Madrid. But would rather see Munich beat Chelsea.

I can't say how I feel about John Terry or I'd be banned.

Would be good for most fans whose clubs aspire to 4th as it would improve the coefficient. England loses 2008's results (3 teams in semis, two in final) from its coefficient next year. With teams not looking great in Europe this year, it could make a big difference if they win.

Am not too bothered as long as there is 3 decent games left to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 540 ✭✭✭Equium

No thanks. I'll always consider the current Chelsea to be a plastic club who, despite having spent obscene amounts of money, resort to playing boring, direct football.

That's not to mention the horrible thought of Super John Terry lifting the CL trophy.

Yes. I think a team that has been as consistent in the tournament for so long (I mean noone has been more consistent in bloody semis :() deserves to win it out. But you don't always get what you deserve in football.

Barring that don't care who wins really as long as not Real Barca final. I'd probably go Bayern though cos do like them as a team and have always highly regarded Robben and would like to see him win.

Like the OP said they have some great players who are coming to the end of their careers who deserve it. However, John "let me readjust my CAPTAIN'S armband" Terry lifting the trophy would be a sore sight. So no. Barca to hammer them in the Nou Camp

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,883 ✭✭✭smokedeels

No, partially due to how the club is run but mostly the nasty people who play for them, Terry and Cole in particular. And while Drogba is - in my opinion - one of the best players to have played in the EPL, looked like a clown out there tonight and that's still fresh in my mind. I don't care if they win but I wouldn't want to see them do it.

Would pretty much rule out our Champions League qualifier being seeded for next years competition, so no.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,873 ✭✭✭Skid

I won't be cheering for them. They have too many unlikeable players and have an air of arrogance about them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 394 ✭✭cantgetright

A Chelsea loss in the final to Munich would be sweet. On penalties in sudden death and maybe the odd injury (Terry, Drogba, Mikel, Torres, Sturridge and Cole)
    I don't really wish injury's on those player's....

Imagine the irony if Real Madrid managed by Jose Mourinho were to beat Chelsea in the final, with Abramovich having fired Mourinho from the Chelsea job due to his failure to win the Champions League.

Despite Jose's personal friendships with several of the Chelsea players from his time at the club, you can't help feel that he'd love to be the one to deny Abramovich what he craves the most and deliver a king size serving of revenge all these years later.

I want to see them beat Barcelona, but not to win the tournament over all, I wish for that to go to either Bayern or Real, obviously. But moreso Real for Ronnies' sake.

Don't really care as long as the final's a good match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,571 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

No, with Arteta out I expect us to get pegged back by Spurs now tbh so if Chelsea win it means we'll miss out on the CL even if we come 4th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,643 ✭✭✭Father Damo

In all honesty apart from Terry there are few truly reprehensible characters on the team. Cole must be the most over- hated player in the world tbh. I wouldnt mind seeing them win mainly because alot of United fans would hate it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 528 ✭✭✭Lahinchians

Honestly, I'd perfer to see bayern beat them in the final.
I'd probably go Bayern though cos do like them as a team and have always highly regarded Robben and would like to see him win.

For that, and for the fact that i think it would be funny for robben to lift the trophy haven beaten both his previous teams.

out of pure spite for torres. I hope not. But I hope they do well against barca, and I wouldnt really mind if they won.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,521 ✭✭✭Giggsy11

No. I want to see them in finals though. If Chelsea wins the tie then I want Bayern to win the other semi fianls, if not then I want Madrid to win it.

    I would go with,
    1. Bayern
    2. Madrid
    3. Chelsea
    4. Barca

Chelsea fan so slightly biased, so I'm going to say yes I would. ;)

If we dont win it, I wanted Real to win it, mainly so Jose can win La Liga and the UCL double over Barca.

A team with John Terry and Drogba and a fan base like that? Not in a million years. I'd rather Everton win it before Chelsea tbh.

I would have to go with yes, however this from the stand point that I would think it would be funny that after all the money Chelsea have spent on getting the best managers in the world in that a temp manager who would have no chance of other wise getting the job finally won it for them.

True, but I'd rather Bayern or Real win it than Chelsea.

Chelsea v Bayern/Real final with Ribery/Ronaldo to destroy Terry would be my ideal final.

Strangely , when Chelsea got to the Final in Moscow they also had what was regarded as a temp manager in charge as well.

I am a Chelsea fan , so OF COURSE I want them to win.

    1. Bayern Munich
    2. Chelsea

    4. Barcelona

As a United fan, the above would be my order of preference.

Absolutely not. Horrible team (IMO), horrible owner, horrible fans (though to be fair the majority on here seem decent enough) and I'd only be happy for Di Matteo. A Real Madrid - Chelsea final would leave me with a serious dilemma in terms of who to support. For me it would be:

    1) Barceona (Not my favourite team by any means, but best of a bad bunch this year and they have a lot of players I respect and admire)

    2) Bayern Munich

    3) Real Madrid
    4) Chelsea

I don't care about Terry/Drogba et all lifting the trophy, I just don't want ANY English side that isn't Man United winning it.

No way not even if hell freezes over.

Prefer Bayern or Barca to win cant stand either Real or Chelsea.

Anyone one but Chelsea at this stage. Bayern first choice then Barca and finally Madrid. I dont want to even think about the possibility of Chelsea winning.

Horrible supporters are reason enough but then add the likes of Terry, Cole etc to the mix..... and not to forget Drogba and his carrer ending injurys every 5 minutes

I want them to knock out Barcelona and then get battered in the final, hopefully by Munich and not Madrid.

Two birds with the one stone and all that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 792 ✭✭✭parc

Lol I'm pissed off that they got their 15 minutes of fame at the bridge beating barca tbh.

Sorry if that sounds petty, but it's football, you gotta passionately dislike someone. I pretty much hate Madrid especcially now that the Mourinho factor is added in but I'd choose them over Chelsea in a heartbeat if it came down to it

I said fair play to arsenal for beating barca at the emirates, but chelsea winning it? Neeeooooooooooo

Why "detestible characters?" How can they be judged unless you personally know them, unless you believe everything you read in the media Why "a lot of detestible characters"
I would say 2 "contestable characters" at most (JT and A Cole), maybe Drogba for his diving
What is the difference between them and say Giggs love life, Wayne rooney granny love and Gerrards incidents of violence
And for teams actually still in the competition, how about Ribrerys underage accusations and diving as just one example, Mouirinhos gamemanship, there are so many others, I really fail to see why you have singled chelsea out at all

very misinformed and badly chosen subject especially considering the strong anti chelsea posts in the barca match thread

All this is going to do is further stoke up the usual haters and give them yet another thread to vent their insane ramblings

Stop trying to deflect with references to other clubs tbh.

The thread's about Chelsea because they're a club that divides opinion and have done for years so the topic clearly has merit given the amount of replies and votes already. If you can't see why Chelsea would be singled out for discussion in a Premier League dominated forum then thats your problem.

Don't be so bloody precious, you should be happy that you're still in the spotlight.
