How many subjects? whats passes for leaving cert?

    Hi i hope to do a plc next year and i am doin 6 subjects for my leaving cert but i was wondering if i only manage to do 4 or 5 subjects does it make a difference as long as i stil pass maths and english/irish, as there is one or two I dont know if i will do or if i do will at least pass? thanks

    Depends on the PLC course you want to do. You can usually find how many passes you need on the PLC college website and I don't think I've ever seen it below six but you might get lucky. :) Hope that helps.

    Waterford requires 5 passes at LC

    Remember that these may be minimum entry requirements, oversubscribed courses will look more favourably on those with the better results.

    By the same token, some PLC courses will let you in without a certain of number of passes in your Leaving.

    Again, in the case of Waterford, 5 passes are required, the interview then decides who makes the cut, not the LC results.

    so in the case of only a leaving cert being required not mentioning any certain amount of passes, would the interview alone be enough to secure a place in event of it being oversubscribed?

    You need to check on the specific requirements of the college you hope to attend. It isn't possible to answer your question in a general sense as each college is different.
