How Near Is Your Nearest Senior Club?

Just as a follow on from the thread about attendances as a percentage of population, I'm interested to know the average driving distance (I'm not assuming everyone drives but still) one must travel to get to their nearest senior club (League of Ireland Premier/First Division or foreign equivalent)

I assume everyone who has access to boards has access to Google maps, so finding the driving distance (to the nearest 5 minute interval) shouldn't be difficult.

All I'm looking for is the driving time (to the nearest 5 min interval) and who your local club is. No specific need to state whether you support that club or any club.

For me its 30 minutes to both Shelbourne and Drogheda United.

15-20 min drive to Shelbourne. 30-40 mins on a bus. We had Fingal out our way but they had appalling attendances.

Well the idea that repeatedly gets put forward as a reason for **** attendances is that lots of people aren't within distance of a club.

I don't think that's particularly true so I decided to see.

Behind Enemy Lines, I salute you sir.

Dalymount is 20 mins from home.

I work in Phibsboro so a 2 min walk from the job. Actually was working the day of the Pat's vs Bohs (K.O. 4pm) match and chanced my arm and asked the boss for two hours off in the middle of an 8-8 shift to go across and watch it. He just said ''well at least you support your own, so go on get out of my sight and be back at 6''. I was delighted:D

About 50 minutes to an hour from Tallaght, about 45 minutes from Athlone. Don't drive myself, though, so it'd take a good bit over an hour to get to Tallaght and God knows how long to Athlone.

In some cases it's true, in other cases people don't think it's value for money. Poor standards on and off the pitch, sometimes perceived, sometimes real are the main problem.
