Wow, Well Done to you on your .xls file. If you would like have to this list posted similar to Victors, then just click the 'boxes' icon above to insert table tag template into your post. Alternatively, just let me know and I can do it for you no bother. You've the hard work done already though by compiling the list

Well I have no problems with people listing where they have visited, even if mentioned already. The list can still be updated and we won't be excluding anyone from posting in here then. It's how I like to operate.
I can keep an eye in here and update the list accordingly, but I'd like to allow everyone post what countries our fellow boardsies have visitied tbh!

They are and they aren't, for example Jersey is a crown dependency and should be included, The Orkney islands are not included as they are actually part of the UK. Puerto Rico is a unincorporated territory of the USA and is included but Hawaii is a state proper and is not included.0 -

If you read the thread, you'll see why some islands have the name of a country beside them. They are 'Dependent Territories', and not all of them are islands either. 'Dependent Territories' are neither an integral part of the country nor an independent country in their own right. In an earlier version of the list, there were two separate lists, one of countries and one of dependent territories. I think it was Victor who provided the lists. I merged them together and put them in alphabetical order, and when I did so I put the name of the country upon which the territory is dependent after the name of the dependent territories.
Zanzibar is a part of Tanzania, just as Hawaii (as Pablo Said) is a part of the United States.
However, there are certain inconsistencies in the list. For example, "Martinique - France" is on the list, but "Reunion - France" isn't. They both have the same legal status. Neither of them is a "dependent territory". In actual fact, they are both part of France. Although neither of them is physically located in the part of the world we traditionally think of as being "France", each of those two forms a 'département' of France in exactly the same way as 'Alpes-Maritimes' or 'Lot et Garonne' are.
I do not know whether the error that led to the inclusion of this inconsistency was made by Victor or by whoever it was that made the list he used as his source.0 -

so what you are really saying is that the list is inconsistent, and either a few others should be added or a few should be removed.

I'll take Tonga. My other islands are gone.
And I know another infrequent boardsie that can fulfill the following:
Nauru
Kiribati
Papua New Guinea
(I nearly did but was lucky not too - I sent him instead )
and the Marshall Islands
And I know people who've been to Tuvalu. Planning on it myself within the next few years before it's gone.0 -

Sounds like a good ide. Get them all listed.....but maybe do sub listings under the primary locations. So, United Kingdom would be listed and maybe using a "*" to sub list England, Scotland, Wales & NI etc etc. I think it would make a far more interesting list. I would do it, but would only mess it up
