One of my chickens was attacked by my dog earlier. Substantial feathers and skin have been removed and flesh is exposed. Am I better off putting the chicken down or is there a chance it may fully recover.

It will probably be fine, I got a cock last year from someone that had been attacked by another cock, loads of feathers gone, they all grew back and he was fine, untill the fox got him!! My chickens make to peck my dogs if they go too near, so the dogs avoid them generally!!

It has happen to me here once or twice , my springer dosen't know the difference between pheasant & chicken so if a chicken accidently wanders down to the house the springer thinks its an appertiser. The chicken may make a full recovery.

If my springer goes near one of my chickens they make to peck at her so she steers clear!!!

Go to the pharmacy and get a dilute iodine and spray it around the area to be sure, you can also spray the feet
