I found taking a herb that you can buy from chemists called Echincea Force very good and did not take long for it to work, it comes in drops and you just add 20 drops to a little water for the first week and then decrease it to 15 drops, must warn you it does not taste very nice but is great for the immune system and keeping colds at bay.

I had 14 chest infections 2 year's ago and after 9 antibiotics i sourced something different and went onto the drops i have not had a chest infection now for 14 months not even a sniffle.

This can be found in Chemists and Health Shops it's about 10.00 a bottle but lasts ages and well worth it.

Click the link below and read about it.http://forcenutrition.com/products/00905_echinacea_tabs.html

    Hi,

Thanks for ur reply. That sounds like pretty good stuff. I will give that a try.

Just back from playing astro and my god i was breathless playing. Just so frustrating. I am not unfit , judt did the october marathon.

Could the constant sinus problems and the lodgement of phlegm on the throat cause breathing problems.

I seem to be breathing very high in the chest on the slightest exertion. I am an asthmatic , do take inhalers but they dont seem to be working.

I have a peak flow of 580. Should i be taking inhalers at all.

    Tnx for that advice

You are most welcome could be the sinus as when you lay down at night it would drip down the back of your throat and lodge there.

Exputex Medicene is good for clearing Phlegm as it breaks it down so its easier to shift.
As for your inhalers keep taking them whether you feel you need them or not as this will help with assisting the clearance of that crap on your chest, i myself am an asthmatic and get tight chested with excercise to the point where i am dizzy and have to stop.
Try the supplement i told you about as you may just have a little infection lingering around all the time that is not being cleared with antibiotics.

Maybe you are over-training. That's a lot of cardio - how is it spread out over the week?

First thing I'd do is cut out the 2hrs of running and do some resistance training instead but maybe it's important to you.

    Hi ,

Yes i have tried numerous bottles of eputex, it does help but doesnt quite clear the phlegm. currently taking avamys nasal spray , xyal allergy tablets at night and also using a sinus saline rinse.

Just been put on another course of antibiotics and steroids to assist the inflammation. God I really hope something shifts it , so bloody annoying.

Can I ask you how often would you use your inhaler while exercising. Do you take before , during and in what quantity. Ive been put on so many different ones that I dont know what does what anymore.

Currently on symbicort 200 and a blue ventolin . maybe I am not taking enough dosage.

    Cheers tnx for your reply

    Hi,

Yes you could well be correct. I ran the marathon in the same condition , could barely breathe and forever coughing up mucus.

The plan is now to provide additional supplements to support my immune system , axe some cardio and start weights. funny that you should mention.

I do think you are correct on the over training comment.

    thank you

    Hi,

How long are you on the Symbicort?

I started it in December 2010 and was on it for a year....for the entire year and since my immune system was wrecked!!

Just saying it may be the Symbicort as I read online it messes up your immune system and gives you sinus/chest infections!

Really ?? . Well my doctor put me on it about 2 months ago , to be taken once in the morning and once at night. It doesnt do anything for me yet he , the doctor insists I should stay on it.

The symbicort 200 is a preventer and reliever yes ? I think I will stop taking . Did not realise inhalers cause problems with the immune system You learn something new everyday. ha

I used it mainly for the prevent.

It made my asthma way better but it wrecked me otherwise, didnt click until after a year though why I suddenly started to get all these colds/fevers/infections when I started he symbicort.

    It also causes muscle damage!

Its different with everyone though so I wouldnt just stop on my advice ha!

Google side effects and then say it to your doctor if you think it doesnt agree with you.

Im on Servent and Qvar now instead, my old inhalers. Chest not 100% but Symbicort was just killing me!

    Best of luck!
