Need advice about taking up violin or flute

    Hi, I currently play a couple (piano, guitar) of instruments and I would like to take up another. I have been leaning towards the flute a lot as it is very different to what I have learned before and I love the sound of it. I am also tempted by the violin for similar reasons, although the stringed element of it does make it somewhat related to the guitar. So, my question is to players of either.

    What is the set up cost or either instrument? Are there specific types that I should be aware of (e.g. Concert flute)? If so, what would be the best to start with?

    Secondly, where is a good place to get lessons in Dublin 2?

    Walton's New School have some excellent flute teachers but go to Paul Ryan in Eustace Street (just beside IFI) for an instrument if you haven't got sorted yet.
