Anyone have one of these bad boys?

    http://www.casio.com/products/Watches/Classic/MRW200H-7EV

I was going to get another sports watch fitted with a new strap and battery but then I really like the styling of this. Plus its only 20 quid.

    What do you think?

    Cheers

At 20 quid from a well known maker you can't go too far wrong D.

I bought a Casio F-91W for 18quid the other day.
    f91w-1_large.jpg
Nice digital watch, very lightweight, and apparently has a 7yr+ battery.

    Though looking at Casio's site, maybe I'll quickly up-trade it for a AL190W-1AV :)

Very Nice..was thinking of buying one myself

    This is my digital watch...

That price.. I wonder if they're kosher? I was just browsing for a Casio daily beater, but the F-91W is quite small.

The W-800xx-xxx, which you've linked too, seems to be a new popular choice. Very legible, with a full date.

I had a Casio W-24 Marlin back in the day, I loved the 'frame' around the day and the various dividing lines on the fascia. Glad to see they've made a comeback. Something which the venerable F-91W lacks.

Oh well, I'll order one and report back.

Almost a year on and no complaints about the w-800xx-xxx, wear it often, nice solid watch, wouldn't have any doubts about it not being genuine casio, seller sells lots of other models and have one or two fake F-91W's and you can see the difference in quality to a real one.

Yeah, I'd say I'm safe. That particular seller no longer sells it at that price. It was €17.50 all in. P&P included. A tiny bit cheaper than Amazon.

I went with it because that 800 (W-800HG-9A) variant has the pale orange LCD and gold text fascia. Certain models on Amazon are classic silver and white. I prefer the gold.

Here's two unpackings that shows up the colour of the gold.

..and same basic model with silver LCD and text.

I have no idea how to tell the different 800s apart, there seems to be dozens, based around the same shell, with a long string of letters after the 800 part.

The only downside is the bog standard plastic screen. It scratches easily.

Some users have glitched the 800 putting in a new battery, sometimes it shows a countdown timer! (available only on other Casio models)

    I still find I need a watch with a date. :o

Yes I preferred the look of the gold too

I ordered a Casio W-800HG-9AVDF from Hong Kong. Arrived today. 11 days transit, not too shabby.

    €17.50 all in. P&P inclusive.

Forgive my Father Fintan Stack like hairy wrists..

    casiow800hairywrist.jpg

If you're a bit OCD on time setting, there's a nice little feature where you can reset the seconds while adjusting.

    casiow800green.jpg

The light has a distinctive lime green hue to it. Rather pleasing.

If you haven't noticed, I'm not pressing any buttons for this photo. The light times out a second and a half or so, after the button is released.

    Happy.

Not intended as a 'Rolls Royce' watch. Just a daily beater. I love the framed day and the full calendar date. Along with the proper Water Resist. (the F-91W and similar are only splash proof)

I see the same seller now has a casio database watch for €13.61
    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Original-Casio-Watch-Black-5-Multi-Fuction-DB-36-9A-/200866400650?pt=UK_Jewelery_Watches_Watches_MensWatches_GL&hash=item2ec492098a#ht_1908wt_801
I know database watches a bit redundant with mobile phones, but nice set of features for the price

A bit of contrast to the above Casio watches

    A Timex cheapy.

    £10 Sterling at the moment.

    www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0000TIKHG/

    ---

No nonsense watch with a nice retro look, along with a rather zesty green fascia backgroung. Proper Timex 'Indiglo' illumination. Glass display face, as opposed to acrylic, at a similar price bracket, on the Casio offerings.

Edit: Same watch as in the following YouTube review, as far as I can tell.

You cannot beat one of these. The most comfortable watch ever. They are brilliant.
Clear, very accurate, and everything else you'll ever need in a watch and nothing else.

Oops, I meant to follow up. The reviews suggest the watch is quite small in size. Hard to guess what gets people to class it as small, maybe Casio F91W size, who knows..

In any case, the Amazon price seems to have dampened the prices on eBay, which were hovering about the €40 mark, which is madness, for what it is.

I have the black faced version of that which I bought from a US seller. It's a nice watch for the money but the plastic on the bevel is VERY soft and it will ding as mine did.

I also have a version of the 007 and it's a fine fine watch, much better quality as you'd imagine but kudos has to be given to the Casio in regards to value for money. I just wish the plastic was a little tougher.

Hey, this one isn't really a cheapy but one that I am interested in

Havn't had a watch for years and will probably get a nice flash one around christmas (I like Hugo Boss for lether and would like a citizen eco drive for bracelet, want both!!) but this watch also looks excellent in the mean time

It has a nice style and great spec, reviews are excellent. But I am a little concerned about the bad reviews, though they are few they say it feels cheap and paint wears off etc
Should this just be what to expect with casio anyway? Looks smart and casual which is another reason I like it. Anyone have any experience?

Received the one above today, so took about 2 weeks, blue is much darker than pictured

Hard to see sort of darker or just less vivid darker?

    elusiveguy wrote: »

It looks as pictured, just the blue plastic on the case seems slightly deeper blue, in low indoor lighting you'd hardly notice theres blue there

picture here bit more accurate, plenty of reviews too
    http://www.amazon.com/Casio-WS210H-1AVCF-Tough-Powered-Digital/dp/B003URNNHC/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1377899866&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=toughsolar

Backlight is orange, LCD contrast about normal
Alarms not the loudest and only 10sec duration

Really like the watch, the moon and tide resolution a lot better than some of the other models, 8 division for moon, can see range of tide between high and low, so can pick out spring tides or neap tides etc or estimate tide height

I can't recall a EU Casio Wave Ceptor watch being sold for under £25 (sterling) before.

    1xy7.jpg

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-WV-58U-1AVEF-Ceptor-Resin-Digital/dp/B000MMB05A/

Typically, you can get the cheapest on eBay for about €36ish Euro, but they're often from Japan or china, with local settings.

Granted, it's just one english penny under twenty five, but it is an eye catcher.

Dispatched from and sold by Amazon. Worth keeping in mind if you're ordering through Parcel Motel etc..

    ---

I'm partial to the Casio below, for some reason. The Green accent I find strangely.. nice. Nothing particularly special about the watch, there's cheaper variants of the same Casio module. Just a heads up.

    €26 thereabouts, with free delivery.

Can you explained the Parcel motel and "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon" point, I didn't follow that. I like the wave watch. The green reminds me of action man, which has a certain attraction.

Am I right in thinking that this is the modern version of the original G-Shock? Regardless of that, €45 delivered for a 'proper' G-Shock seems like great value. Seller is based in the states so you may/may not be caught for customs. I've ordered twice from him and haven't paid anything extra yet.

The cheaper Casio bracelets used to be ok. But my most recent one had a very sharp unfinished feel. I swapped it out for an older bracelet, which is much better finished.

I'm of the same opinion. Just worth noting. Nothing wrong with cheap casios, but the straps leave a lot to be desired.

That particular watch is interesting, in that, seemingly, the strap is actual metal, people are having issues with the watch body itself, painted resin of some sort. The lugs get scratched trying to change the bracelet out.

Just to add, there's an 'Asian' variant of this, the Casio AE-1200WH-1BVEF with gold fascia and a coloured world map. (green)

    I'm in love..

I was In a jewelers today looking at those ae1200 watches and the price gap was enormous. €69.95 V €20 odd online. Even the Argos are half the price at €34.99 versus the jewelers inflated price.

These watches also look very similar to the Seiko watch in the Bond movie Octopussy.
