avoiding carbs - go gluten-free instead?

    Hi,

Just wondering, when cutting out simple/refined carbs, is it best to just avoid bread altogether or would getting gluten-free brown bread be a healthy option? Also I eat porridge every day, would it make any difference to switch to the gluten-free porridge? If it helps, I'm asking in terms of weight loss more so than overall healthiness (though that is important).

    Thanks
    :pac:

I'd avoid the bread altogether and just use regular porridge.

Porridge will have a small amount of gluten from cross-contamination but nothing to worry about if you are not coeliac.
ditching the bread & pasta and filling your plate with veg instead will be a huge help in your weightloss I'm sure.

Gluten free just has different carbs to regular bread. Still a similar calorie value

I think it's important the option you pick is doable in the long term. For example, I replaced pasta/white rice with quinoa which is delicious. I have not cut out bread because long term I know it is too extreme for me, but I have cut down on my bread consumption.
