Jogging speed

What speed do most people jog at ? I jog at speed 8 on the treadmill which would get me 400m in and around 3 minutes. So I assume its around 5mph ? I think.

Should I be looking to up the speed as well as distance as I progress or is it all about endurance ?

As you get fitter you should slowly increase the speed.

If it feels very easy you should go faster. Speeds vary with fitness, some fast runners can run at 20kph others run at 8-10kph or less. You run at a speed you are able for. Don't be afraid to do a bit of distance either, but build it up gradually.

Went up a notch today and it seemed alright, wasnt under any extra pressure really. I'll go for distance tomorrow morning and see how I fare.
