Speed wobble

I had a 'slightly alarming' episode at speed. I was using campagnolo khamsin wheels (so not a huge amount of rim to catch the wind).

I might be wrong but I blamed it on a very slight buckle in the front wheel.

Speed wobble seems to be surprisingly common.

As horrible as speed wobbles are, I've never heard of any rider actually hitting the deck. I was plagued with them, and I started this thread, but I've not had one for ages now, and I'm putting it down to more confidence while on the descent. I know most people would probably disagree with this, but it has been my experience over the past couple of years. A club colleague of mine descended with me, and he told me I had a death grip on the bars, which was obviously caused by fear. Since then I've been incident free.

Wobbles can be caused by a loose Headset. When i say loose, i mean a very, very slightly loose headset. Worth checking you headset.

This poor divil provides an exception.

Ouch! Glad to see that he's on his feet at the end of it. Recommendation: don't do your fast descending on a BMX (and if you must, keep your feet on the pedals).
