Samsung 32UE5000 - Internet connection

I bought a Samsung 32 LED recently and while it is not DLNA compliant, I have successfully connected it to the Internet via the ethernet port on the set. It doesn't have the Share all software.

Is there any use that I can get of this Internet connection to the TV? I was considering going down the road of a media server or HTPC in the future.
