I'm 5'3 & female. Currently 12st 4. Started at 14st 2.5 in September and have changed my attitudes towards food. Exercise is the main problem. I did well for a while with a bootcamp, but then lapsed. Anyway, I'm weaning myself back into the exercise and trying to do exercise at least twice a week [will get it to 3 times a week!!] Anyway - bought a set of dumbells as i've heard weight training is important also. What exercises should I be doing [sit ups/crunches, do they work?] and what exercises with the dumbells?

Thank you. I am clueless when it comes to exercises and stuff! :(

Firstly, you actually posted this in the nutrition forum, you'd most likely get a greater response in the heath and fitness forum.

Secondly, crunches/situps arent going to help you lose fat...they target very very small muscles and to be honest, they are quite ineffective for the most part too.

Weight training will definitely help you with your goals. But unfortunately a lot of women make the same mistake of thinking that small weights are needed to 'tone' muscles, when it is in fact heavy weights that make all the difference! Believe me!!

Firstly, Have you access to a gym or are you planning on working out solely at home?

And secondly here are two links that are good reads :)
