Doni v Aston Villa, 3pm

Both clubs have almost forgotten what it's like to win a game in the Premier League, with just two victories between them in their last 16 matches.

Daniel Agger could make his comeback after a six-week absence with a cracked rib sustained in the Carling Cup final.

Villa pair Charles N'Zogbia and Alan Hutton are in contention to return from respective knee and calf injuries.

    1-0 Liverpool.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man, so I expect Doni to score the winner from a kickout provided there are no shenanigans from the overhead camera.

I expect we will line out something like this:

    _______Doni___________

    Other_Other_Other_Other

    Other_Other_Other_Other

    ____Other__Other__

But would obviously favour something like this...

    _______Other__________

    Other_Other_Other_Other

    Doni__Other_Other_Other

    ____Other__Other__

After St Pat's hammering Shams last night, nothing can bring me back down, so feck it, i will watch this no matter what happens. Don't have Setanta so i'll head to the pub for a couple of pints of lovely lovely Guinness!!

There surely has to be a reaction today! Surely!! Just get stuck in and get the win. No messing about. There'll probably be a weird atmosphere at Anfield today so give them something to shout about and get behind from early on.

I really really hope Kenny starts Shelvey. I don't think he will, but he deserves a start!

    Severe lack of Coates.

What is Dalglish's problem with giving Carroll an extended run in the team? The league's is over in the sense that there's nothing to push for, yet he still won't play a player he spent 35 million on. It's baffling.

Did you miss what he did last week? He should never wear the shirt again.

I think it will likely be a very different team during the week but the team picked today is the one Kenny has in his mind for the semi final.

    Have to agree with SantryRed

Nice to see Kenny trying young players like Flanagan, Henderson and Shevley.

It's also good to see him playing Carra, no importance so let him play out a few games.

THough what does baffle me is why isnt he playing Carroll too, he know's what Kuyt can do and he know's what Gerrard is about so drop one (Kuyt) and play Carroll.

Could do with a Forrester-esque performance from one or two today.

I really hope Carroll is starting. He played really well last week before the occasion and the crowd got to him. A decent performance at home against a poor Villa side could be a great tonic.

perfect for us to line up like this:

    Doni
    flan
    carra
    skrtle---enrique

    henderson----shelvey

    kuyt
    gerrard
    downing

    suarez

but we all know it will be a frustrating 4-4-2

    henderson---gerrard-shelvey--downing

    suarez--kuyt

You not think about throwing any dm in those teams, or do you think doni just wont concede??

Well he's working with the players Kenny has selected. Afraid picking the players is beyond his remit :P

Team: Doni, Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Henderson, Shelvey, Gerrard, Downing, Suarez, Kuyt. Subs: Jones, Bellamy, Carroll, Maxi, Spearing, Agger, Coates.

Extremely attacking. Shevley, Henderson and Gerrard in the middle could very easily backfire.

VILLA: Given, Hutton, Collins, Baker, Lichaj, Herd, Bannan, Ireland, Warnock, Agbonlahor, Heskey

Subs: Guzan, Johnson, Carruthers, Gardner, Weimann, Stevens, Williams

Very weak Villa side tbh. No doubt a draw would make McLeish a happy man (when does it not?)

Villa are gash, we should be tearing them a new one. Still, i'd be anxious about this one, if the league wasn't as dead as a dodo. Presumably the only reason Carra is playing is because Kenny intends playing him v Everton next week, otherwise its brainless not giving Coates a run out.

While Carroll should probably be dropped for his petulance on principal, i'd still rather him given game time instead of Kuyt. Kuyt is like Carra...loyal servants but we need to move on at this stage and the sooner the better.

Delighted with the lineup, looking stronger with Carroll on the bench. 3-1 Liverpool

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,535 ✭✭✭joe123

Spearing has been a disaster to be honest. He tries and can pull off the odd tackle but jesus his passing his shocking.

Saying that of our three midfielders starting not one of them can hold their position and Henderson just goes invisible. Happy to see Shelvey starting again tho.

In some ways I feel sorry for Villa, in other ways, well they appointed McCleish so they kinda did it to themselves.

Can you honestly see Villa scoring today??. We've basically got a concrete wall covering our goal.
