Hi Guys, if anyone needs it here is the latest arive 120 combo firmware with built in free to air channel list . As always please read the "how to guide" and follow it to the letter as you run the risk of damaging the box otherwise . Other than a new boot up screen I don't see any real difference so far so its not worth upgrading unless you have a reason to.

The How To file is not clear about how to update the channel list.
    This is what it says.......

Due to fact that new software don't contain any user data base (channel list), as last step you have to check antenna settings and search satellite or upgrade receiver with desired channel list.

So hows do i get a channel list in?

So, I won't need to do a sat search or a channel search or anything?
    It will all be there?
    Terrestrial channels as well?

No, this is beacuse terrestrial channels using different frequencies in different areas so its not possible to have a list that works everywhere. It takes only a min or two to scan these in any case.

    Thanks Tony,

Any idea why I can't find the Saorview channels?
I do find them but there is no Sound or video.
There is an identifier as K_Express 6A in brackets.

Is there a setting I need to change? Something simple?

    cheers

Is your aerial ok and are you carrying out an automatic or manual terrestrial scan ?

Check the saorview website and find the transmitter(s) closest to you and their channel number.
Instead of automatic, select Manual search and put in the ch number of the transmitter.
You should see a strength and quality bar and it'll register depending if you've put in the right ch number.
Hit search once you've done this.
If you're not receiving anything at all, check all your connections are good, any devices that may have terrestrial loop thru are plugged in and any distribution amps, psu's are plugged in and operating.

It turns out that if I do a factory reset of the box and do a search for DTT first it finds all the saprview stuff. If the terrestrial search is done after the sat search it finds all the channels not as DVB T but as this strange K_EXPRESS 6A and there is no video or audio.

A strange new bug in 2.18B2 I would suggest. This did not happen in the previous version.
I should have taken Tony's advice and not bothered upgrading.

    Thanks for the help

I'll have to take your word on that! :)

Can anybody save me some time and point me in the right direction to report the bug to Ferguson? Or is there a thread of known bugs/issues?

Ariva 210 and I bought a directional antenna, wyszukało feeds me, but when I turn it on it says no signal or signal when it finds that it writes encrypted, and when I go to channel 33 (pull from Olsztyn) is the signal strength is 83% quality 93%. And the programs do not receive. What to do?

hi guys got my ariva 120 last November for my sister inlaw and was told some of the channels are missing. is this channel list upto date ??? and do i need to do a firmware or can i just update channel list ???

    cheers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,907 ✭✭✭✭Kristopherus

What channels are missing? It just could be that some of them move to different transponders. If that is so, then its just a matter of re-tuning them. Go to kingofsat to get the updated frequencies.

Is it possible there will be an update to enable the 120 to play avi files, or is this a hardware issue? (when I try play an avi file the sound plays but "video codec not supported" is displayed on the screen)

AVI container format is supported by the Ariva 120

The contained video codec used should be MPEG-2 or H.264 (up to level 4.1)

    Audio MP3, AAC or AC3

    Hi,

I've not updated mine for good while as it has been pretty stable.
Everything is fine except for an issue where the HD channels freeze.

Do you know if this latest version has a fix for that issue?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tony,

I'm running V2.15B8 on my Ferguson 120 ( haven't upgraded it since I bought it from you). It's working fine, but I'm wondering if there is a good reason for updating the firmware?

    Thanks,

Hi MJ, theres really no reason to unless you are having a specific problem.

Thanks. It's always worth asking the question, just in case some new feature was added!

Last time I tried to update the firmware on a receiver was on my Strong 6355 and I totally messed that up, so probably best I stay well away from updates!

I powered up the Ariva 120 and get the message "ASH" on the display

No output from the unit and remote and front panel buttons all unresponsive.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks

ASH is a fault code, you now have to go through a procedure called " recover box" and you need to connect to box with a null modem cable. on the ferguson website they will have the software to upgrade box but its polish.

tony is your best bet, satelite ie

Hi guys, ive a prob with the ariva 120. Basically, have 2 boxes. Wanted to copy the channel list from one and put in onto the other one so i saved it on a usb. Downloaded the files on the second box but i guess the software was different or something. I have all the irish stations and the channel list but the satelite stations are all no signal. How can I fix this? I try rescan but it fails

First off if the boxes are the same model then you can share the channel lists by doing a dumpfile to a USB. Then you can upload that channel list (and included firmware) by doing a UserDB on the receiving box.

Your problem is that the second box is obviously not connected to the satellite dish correctly.

ASH is a symptom of one of 2 things. Flashing the wrong firmware to the box OR a dodgy eeprom. There were a dodgy batch of these last Christmas, but the issue would have presented itself by now. When and where did you buy it ? And did you flash firmware recently to the box ?

Hi, I backed up everything and have now upgraded to the latest firmware. It says there is no channel list so that's what I'm looking for. Where do I go? The file at the start of this thread 'is missing or has been deleted by the user'.

    EDIT: Problem solved

hi ron , i have the exact same problem with mine , could you tell me what you did to sort yours please !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

@greendragon3 Download the latest firmware here.

Unzip that file to a usb stick. Put in front of box.

    Go to menu and upgrade.

Choose allcode+bootloader. Let box get to 100% and reboot.

You will have to go through the setup again. ie tuning in satellites and terrestrial channels and sorting, but your HDMI will be working again.

Yep did as Stb suggested but because I couldn't see the menu etc I had to first connect it through scart so that i could ' view' the menu
    Hope that helps! Good luck.

Just downloaded Firmware 20130402 V2.18b8 from the Ferguson website.

I presume (in 2017) the is the latest & last firmware update for the Ariva Combo 120. Started from scratch and did a FULL scan on Astra & Eurobird, then thirty five minutes later ...... Bingo I had nearly 900 stations, many of which are duplicated on Eurobird :)

Lots of deletions to be done now, but do I need Eurobird at all, or will Astra suffice?
I know it played a part last time I did an update in 2013, but I cant remember why.

I'd suggest trying Astra 2 on its own and set "network search" to on . It should then download all the transponders from the satellite data feed . You could also set "FTA only" to on to avoid loading pay tv stations.

The entries for Eurobird and Astra are just tables of known transponders. These have probably changed in the last four years.

In my opinion you'd be better to start from scratch again and do a blind scan on Astra 2

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,078 ✭✭✭✭LordSutch

A blind scan instead of a full scan? I've jus done a Full scan anyway...

Shall I just delete all the Eurobird stations & concentrate on Astra?

    Already making 'Favourites' lists!

What software are you referring to? I'd agree if I could edit the channels on a PC that would save loads of time. In the past here Tony and others had shared channel lists which you could download, stick on a USB and update the ariva with them.
