    Just wondering, do you think girls use a lot of smileys/emoticons online, say in chats on boards, etc.?

    Do we use them more than guys?

    I for one use them waaaay too much, especially on skype!

    :D;):p:):rolleyes::o:eek::P:pac:

    In my experience, yes. Women also seem more likely to use exclamation marks too often, one of my friends uses them after every! Single!! Sentence!!!

    Yeah, I definitely think so. I like them anyway. They can make text more accurate, by implying the tone behind the words!

    I think mostly yes, but men are far more likely to use the rolly eyes or winky ones in a superior fashion when banging on about something they haven't a clue about and putting forth their opinion (deeply flawed) as fact.

    Every time i see it I want to slap the poster.

    Ha, I have a friend like that as well! But he's a guy. I sometimes wasn't sure if he was upset with me because he would put an exclamation after every single sentence! And sometimes people use the "..." waaaay too much. It's like everything has some mysterious meaning... :D

    Hummmm I think it might be equal? I post a bit in the motors forum and all the lads use them quite a lot.

    I think girls use them more, they are more likely to use them if they are talking to either sex. Whereas if my mate Owen asked me "Coming out tonight? ;) " I'd be a bit concerned.

    I have a habit of using the exclamation mark too much. I also use a lot of smileys on Boards but I rarely use them when I am on my phone or Skype/AIM/MSN

    It's hard to say which gender uses them more but if I had to pick I'd say girls do.

    I only use smileys on boards, never in real life (though occassionally I do find myself wish my phone had a roll eyes face :rolleyes:).
    I have more girl mates than guy mates who use them, though I've a guy mate who uses them the most, uses them to describe his every single sentance
