Bit of a generalization these games are still brilliant(most) look at the ico/shadow of the colossus collection. Two brilliant games, people might not have the chance/cash to play.

I remember outstanding reviews for Soul Reaver, the fact it had no loading or something between areas and other cool stuff but I just couldn't afford it back in the day.

EDIT: Just realised its pretty much pointless hoping for PS1 games to get HD upgrades!

Hmm, PS2 era.....not rightly sure since FFX was announced.

On March 20, 2012, a source told VG247 that Crystal Dynamics is returning to the Legacy of Kain franchise with a Soul Reaver reboot. Details concerning the project are thin, but the tipster told the the title is a "full reworking" of the game and includes new art direction. The source indicated that the new IP in development at Crystal Dynamics is an Xbox Live Arcade title. Earlier this month, God of War II director Cory Barlog joined Crystal Dynamics to work on a yet to be announced title. A representative from Crystal Dynamics parent company Square Enix declined to comment.[32]

Would be disgusting if this just went to Xbox. Blood Omen was such a class game, really deserves to be remade.

Got to be the three GTA3 games. Unlike some companies, I'd trust Rockstar to ensure that the HD release was worth it - whether they'd be hands-on in doing the conversion or not.

I've no problem with well made remakes. Do it properly, and it's great to be able to play some older games on modern systems. Quite a few are done terribly though, and are just cheap ways to make money.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Big studios contract out the job of polishing up their old games so it doesn't stop them from making new and better games.

Across PSN downloads and retail releases I've got maybe 12 games so far in 2012. The best purchase by a mile was the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection which has given some of my favourite games of all time a much needed upgrade so that they're still presentable on modern televisions.

As Kiith said, that doesn't excuse certain studios using them as a cheap cash-in with no effort put into them. That's why I'm hoping for the GTA games to get a relrelease as Rockstar can probably be trusted to do it the right way.

Strangely enough, I just happened to pick up that Megadrive Collection today on 360, and I'm having a ball bashing through the old Streets Of Rage and Sonic games. I was just thinking how much I'd love to see a Snes collection drop in a similar manner. The likes of Super Double Dragon, Super Star Wars, and Demon's Crest (I was watching a show about that last one lately, and it looks fantastic). Perhaps there's something like this availbale on Wii? I don't know, because I'm not a Wii player, but I'd love to give these another spin.
