Oh Tom Tom Tom Tom Tom..........
    :pac:

I'll be rooting for Sylvain Chavanel, but Boonen will probably win it. The odds on both of these are nothing to get excited about. Hushovd is 18/1, so I put a few quid on him. I've also put a small amount on two long shots, Farrar (50/1) and Goss (125/1)

Hopefully I'll have a reason to shout at the telly!

Hopefully I'll have a reason to shout at the telly!

That reason will probably be to "turn off the fcuking tennis or snooker highlights and show the sh*gging race Eurosport"!!!

This not on tv at all?

4 hours of it on Eurosport on Sunday, preceded by Track cycling, succeeded by Mountain Biking, about time we got our own back on the Tennis fans!

    There's a sh*agging race on Eurosport?

    ... what time?:D

This will get you in the mood for Sunday's race!
A Sunday in Hell is a 1976 Danish documentary film directed by Jørgen Leth. The film is a chronology of the 1976 Paris–Roubaix bicycle race from the perspective of participants, organizers and spectators.

It defies reason. There seems to be so many people cycling yet bl**dy tennis gets to dominate the telly and the newspapers. Seriously, just how many Irish people play tennis except against a wall when Wimbledon is on once a year? Nothing against it really, but just often wondered.

British Eurosport is the one clue I am giving.

When Sean Kelly tells you the Arenberg is scary, you know it's scary.

Wish Eurosport would hurry up and change over! I've enjoyed the track champs but I don't want to see the medal ceremony !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,046 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Ya,Eurosport missing the Arenberg for a medal ceremony is stupid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,481 ✭✭✭TheBlaaMan

Was watching online.....Eurosport schedules really are a disgrace, and especially so as the race is really fast thus far so they are already thru Arenberg when live TV joins in. Really rough looking fall from the breakaway in the Arenberg, but everybody seems safe.

Ya i saw it online, as usual Arenberg leaves it's mark, in more ways than one. Got to agree with ya about Euro sports scheduelling, pathetic, who the hell did they think wants to see a medal ceremony, get real.

White lycra shorts are not a good look on cobbles - a lot of joggling gluteus maximus!

White cycling short don't look good full stop. I'm amazed they sell at all. :D

52k to go. Solo off the front. Who does Boonen think he is..........Cancellara....?:D
(might be eating my words in a hour or so....)

Sh1t or bust now, I think.

Unless your name is Mario Cipollini you shouldn't even look at them!

Who has the best live feed? Cyclingnews?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,383 ✭✭✭Aoibheann

Is it British Eurosport everyone else is watching? I'm on regular Eurosport and have had complete coverage ever since I switched it on around noon or so..

Boonen is either insane or on ridiculous form. Winning in this style would be unreal, but there's 42k to go.. :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 454 ✭✭le petit braquet

Eurosport HD has had coverage since 12

As did ES online. But British ES cable TV didn't come on air until 1:25 - scheduled to come on at 1:10.

Boonen on a phemonenal push. Amazing to watch !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,383 ✭✭✭Aoibheann

1'20 now and growing fast. This is insane. He'd have to have a massive collapse for them to have a shot.

Pity for Boom puncturing there! Absolute disaster for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 454 ✭✭le petit braquet

Unless he's unfortunate enough to have a mechanical problem then it looks all over. Anyone know the Flemish for magnifique or chapeau?

Was a decent shot I guess, he took 10 seconds very quickly but it's since levelled off and even gone back up a little. I haven't seen Boonen on this kind of form since.. I can't even remember when. Wow.

Its going to be some ceremonial lap of the velodrome. Awesome display from Boonen.........and a joy to watch !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,383 ✭✭✭Aoibheann

It's already turned into a ceremonial lap before the velodrome! :P He was waving and grinning like mad for the cameras there. Not surprising after his efforts today. Amazing! One win in Roubaix is one of the best things you can have on your palmares.. But four? Chapeau, Boonen! :D

Turgot takes second (after sneaking back up with Terpstra), Ballan in third.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 454 ✭✭le petit braquet

What odds on him holding up 5 fingers in the next year or two?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,768 ✭✭✭✭Encrypted Pigeon

Fight for second was close :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,046 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Thought that was a fairly boring race tbh. No one bar Boonen looked strong enough, especially with Chavanel and Pozzato being unlucky early on.

Wish Cancellara had been there to make it a race. Also, either Boonen isn't clean or the rest just aren't good enough for a race like this.

Possibly the worst Paris-Roubaix I've seen in years

    Class

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,524 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

That was pure class from Boonen. He really took the race by the scruff of the neck. All his solo riding was Cancellara-esque. 4 Paris-Roubaix: EPIC!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,386 ✭✭✭lennymc

that was good. enjoyed it. great performance from boonen
