New Daily - Classic Or Modern?

Did a deal today with a lad on the 7er - really not sure I should let it go but the tax is bloody killing me @ €475 / qtr.

Anyhow it's time for something new so I'm considering a Classic Ford or maybe something more modern? The budget is €2500 with max engine size 3L on a 30+ y/o car or 2.2 on a modern.

What I've in my head now is either a Capri or a 520 but open to suggestions.....

Audi TT or S3 ? Cheap, and only 1.8 tax AND modern.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    C'mere 'till I asks ya:

I haven't had anthing Jappo since I got rid of the Supra's years back. Anthing there I should be looking at that's interesting, relatively powerful and not mega tax? No scroatmobiles now and nothing that's been thrased!

EDIT: Pretty hard to find all the above in Jap Scrap! :o

Accord TypeR could be had for your budget, nice, understated and very comfy and uber reliable

Belt away and post up examples. I'm not too worried about fuel consumption as I do pretty low mileage but I've a serious bee in my bonnet with tax right now! ;)

Probably won't tickle your fancy but the likes of this.........

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3168233

    Full-10744281.jpeg

......... is cheap to buy, cheapish to tax and wouldn't be too bad on fuel, you could save a few quid while using it and then get something like this (with a better interior colour) in a year or so :) €1000 less to tax than the 735 was.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/2616831

    Full-8300527.jpeg

A silver Monza with a decent interior would rock my boat, especially on vintage tax :)

Anyway, +1 on accord type-r, you are willing to go 2.2. It's no 7 series, but still a lovely choice.

Considering this sold for€2.5k (or less) then this ain't worth near the asking. Not mad about the colur but it would fall under classic tax and with a bit of work could look something like one of these:

A lot of UK programmes in the 70's and 80's where Ford & Rover heavy. The professional was all Capris and Granadas - you should watch re-runs of this, it's deadly, and I'm sure you're old enough to remember Dempsey & Makepeace? On top of all that my Dad drove Fords all his life hence the interest. ;)

Never even heard of Dempsey & Makepeace, I did watch Minder a bit when it was repeated on one of the satellite channels. I do remember all the Fords and Rovers though, even Victor Meldrew had a Rover for a while :D

If its a daily driver I would go modern for the comfort / reliability / availability of parts.

You seem really into your classics and you would feel bad putting mileage up on a nice one id say.
