Gonna get the ball rolling for this one...

    Team News

Blackburn defender Gael Givet is their only doubt, with his recovery from a hamstring problem slower than expected.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has overcome the back problem that forced him off during last Monday's win over Fulham.

Nani, Michael Owen, Anderson, Nemanja Vidic and Darren Fletcher are all out for United.

Predict a 0-2 win for Manchester United.

this match is far more important to my fantasy football league than it is to the premier league. At least there is still a bit of who's gonna win it with fantasy

Tough game, honestly with Webb as the ref given how he is usually bad from a United point of view Im a little worried about him.

Other then that Blackburn are going to be tough to beat there anyway, its a ground we have struggled at for a while now and they did already hurt the title chances this season! I think once is enough, and given Mancinis comments, they City result and the opportunity that is presenting itself to get a bit of breathing room I would hope the team has enough to get the 3 points.

Easy win for United IMO. Blackburn can't defend and United should be focused.

This 'scrapping for their lives' stuff is nonsense. Look at the statistics from the past and you will see a relegation candidate's form generally doesn't change in the run in, they usually remain ****.

draw. Scholes starting could be a big difference but united don't win there often and it's their cup final.

Yep costs us more then he favoured us.

Can see draw with him in charge.

This is a genuine question but are United fans really giving out about Howard Webb being the ref for tonight, what the hell is going on in this forum today?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

    :pac:

Thought I might draw that reaction from an uninformed poster.

    i did! yay!

Webb does far more bad for United then good. this is a fact.

These days he goes out of his way to blow up against Utd just to show he doesn't favour us.

Would you accept that United fans probably have more knowledge of Webbs history in matches involving United and our closest rivals and how the decisions have really affected the team overall?

Exactly, peoples infatuation with howard webb and Man Utd is quite ridiculous at this stage.

Hopefully Ferguson sends out 2 wingers and 4 strikers again, won a nice bit of money at Christmas when he did that against us.

If he sends out a decent team though I can only see one result and thats a pretty comprehensive win for United sadly. We've been playing pretty well of late but the defense just can't handle an attacking force of United's quality.

Blackburn away 07/08 during the run-in, 1-1. Last minute equaliser by Tevez.
Blackburn away 09/10 during the run-in, 0-0. Big blow in the title race, lost it in the end to Chelsea.
Blackburn away 10/11 during the run-in, 1-1. Title decider, Blackburn take the lead and we get a draw thankfully with a penalty from Rooney.

    I hate Blackburn away.

The last game I saw Webb ref United was against us, where he gave you two penalties, one of which was a blatant dive.

Im not saying he gives United all the decisions, but to suggest the total opposite and say he's bad for United is ludicrous.

that's when Blackburn used to be half decent, especially defensively. They had Jones and Samba at the back last season.

United wont struggle tonight, they'll win at a canter IMO.

Yes,he's a shìt referee and usually gets a couple of big decisions wrong every game.
They might go for you or against you but I'd rather take my chances with a referee with less of a history of regularly getting big decisions wrong.

Posted this elsewhere already (more or less)...

Howard Webb isn't pro United or anti United. He is just a reasonably poor ref (in comparison to continental ones imo) who makes an awful lot of bad calls.

Is he pro Holland because De Jong kung fu kicked Xabi Alonso in the World Cup final and only got a yellow? No.

Is he pro City because he didn't sent off Balotelli for stamping on Scott Parkers head whilst looking right at it? No.

It's because he is human and makes mistakes.

The fact that he "gives United all the decisions" is a complete myth that is bandied about by people too lazy to form a proper opinion based on fact. Do you think if he favoured one team, he'd ever be allowed to ref a game again, nevermind the World Cup final in 2010? The fact that people even joke about it is childish.

If he had the benefit of 20 replays with 20 different angles, I'm sure he'd get more decisions "right" in fans eyes. Then again, some people still can't agree even with the benefit of all those aids.

    DDG
    Smalling---Rio---Evans----Evra
    Valencia-Carrick-Scholes-Young
    Rooney---Chico

    United to sneak it 0-1.

Sorry it was 3 wingers and 3 strikers.

Valencia, Park, Nani and Hernandez, Berbatov and Wellbeck iirc.

Stuck Jones in as theres talk of Rio being out with a back problem. Obviously would prefer him there if he is fit.

Ah we've already had the yearly bogey result against Blackburn, better to get it out of the way early and leave the second game for the hammering :D

There needs to be an improvement on last week or we will drop points or even lose this one. i thought Rovers were good at old trafford recently.

We need to control the game early on and hit blackburn when they have players committed up the park.

trilla, i hope Rio is playing. We'll need him in this one

Watching Blackburn Away at home for the first time in a couple of seasons, sadly can't make it three-in-a-row due to college bid'ness... I'm hopeful, yet ever-so cautious about the game due to an educated school of thought brought upon our last few visits to Ewood Park, at the end of the day I can see this being a hard fought, but narrow victory for United, either 1-0 or 2-1, I don't think it will be pretty, either.

Although, if we have them on the rope for long spells I'd like to see the lads cancelling out the -3 goal difference, at least, but the most important thing is the 3 points and stretching the gap at the top to 5 points - I'll take that right now...

    COME ON UNITED!

If anyone was selling a 1-0 now, I'd take it, but hopefully it'll be a bit more comfortable than that.

Raging gonna miss this game tonight - gotta go to a 2 hour meeting at 8 that i cant get out of -
think i'm gonna have a few shneaaaky looks at livescore while no ones looking!
