Why are those who suffered abuse at the hands of the CC called "survivors"?

    Why are victims of this abuse (who I have so much sympathy for) by some priests commonly called "survivors" by certain sections of the media? I am not trying to be smart here but, bad as it was for those individuals, it was not exactly the holocaust. To me it's sections of an agenda led media using emotive language to make ridiculous connotations with history's most violent and disturbing regimes in order to push a secular agenda upon those who are Catholic no matter how loosely Catholic they are (84% according to the latest census). Do you agree?

    Survivor doesn't just imply physically making it, but also mentally.

    Hardly something to nitpick about considering what happened to those people.

    Yes I agree. One of the definitions of Survive is "To carry on despite hardships or trauma; persevere"
