Hey all, was just using some internetz during the week, and I stumbled on a site called Sideshow Collectibles. Granted some of the stuff is ridiculously expensive, but it appears to be made to a pretty decent quality. I am half tempted to start a little bit of a collection. Has anybody any experience with these guys?

Also, the life size figure of Darth Malgus

I collect Sideshow 1/6th Star Wars and I also customise my own 1/6th figures.

They are quite hard to come by in Ireland at a decent price.

Here is an older shot of my stuff.

My Newest purchase on the top!

    collection.jpg

    Its fairly hefty!

I'll be adding the new IG 88 in a few weeks and then the Tusken Raider when it is released.

There is a fairly good community of collectors on the Sideshow Freaks forum.

Some of customised stuff on there is amazing.

    Check this out:

    Hope you like it,

    Jay.

    Thanks for that.

Yeah Boba is very cool and I have plans to make that stand that he's on glow orange, like Bespin.

He's not a Sideshow figure though. He is from a Japanese company called Medicom. The scale is a little smaller than Sideshow (about 11 & 1/2 inches instead of 12 inch) but that suits Boba as Jeremy Bulloch the actor was a short a$$.

I'll be adding more to my bounty hunters as I have IG 88 on the way (all 14 inches of him!) and I have just finished a customised Dengar.

Well to be honest most of the older Imperial stuff is stupidly expensive now.

Vader will easily go for €300 and the Stormtroopers will go for between €150 -€180.

There will be a new Vader (widely believed to be ROTJ Vader) released in the
next 12 months so he would be a great start.

The other figures can be picked up from ebay every now and again for alright prices.

I got my ANH Luke and Bespin Luke from Lilttle Monkey Collectibles in the USA.
Hammerhead came from 4leafclovertoys in the USA.
Yoda, Greedo and Boba Fett came from Maltacomics in Malta.
Figrin Dan and the Dewback came from Holland (Galaxyshop.eu).
Vader, The Emperor, Sandtrooper Leader and my Stormtroopers came form Forbidden Planet in the UK.
The rest were bought from people on the Sideshow Freaks Forum (For Sale Section) where there are still some great bargains to be had on the older figures (the only problem is the shipping as the sellers are usually in the USA).

Ebay can also be quite good as can amazon.co.uk.

Just be wary of people trying to sell Hasbro 12 inch figures and calling them Sideshow.

Also for display cabinets you cant beat the Detolf units in Ikea €51 and they look great.

As you can see from my pics I have two and I'm eyeballing the space for a third!

    Hope this is helpful,

    Jay

Jeez, those customs are great! I particularly like Dengar, you've got a real talent.

I have a few Sideshow figures; the Palpatine/Sidious two-pack, Maul and the Con exclusive Dark Side Anakin.

    Hi MR K,

Thanks for the nice comments on Dengar (I really like him but I am thinking of changing the head)

I never bought any of the Prequel figures because I knew if I did I would have a hard time stopping so I stuck to OT only.

My cousin on the other hand has a Prequel and OT Sideshow collection (The Jedi Council and all the Clone Commanders).

Maul would be one of my favourite non OT characters and my cousin is still looking to buy him as he never got him when he was first released.

    Any pics of your figs?

    Jay.

Hi my glass display cabinets are from Ikea. They are called Detolfs and are about €50. An absolute bargain if you ask me. They come in light wood and dark wood options.

I found this Cantina Booth in my attic so thought I'd stick it out on display.

I got it years ago but had forgotten about it.

It's made from wood and plaster (very heavy) and its 2ft x 2ft x 2ft.

    Ha I like it!,

I could just imagine you trying to make a run for it with the Dewback in one arm and the Cantina Dio strapped to your back!

Enter Now running away "They're mine I tells ya...mine!"

I now have my own room with just my collectibles in it.

I use it as a workshop for making my custom figures too.

I loosely based this guy on one of the Aliens that you see in the Cantina. There are two of them and they are in the movie for about half a second but then again so are all the Clones in the prequels and they got figures made of them so I though I would give this guy some custom love.

They are expensive and have only gone up in price over the last year.
There are massive amounts of collectors though so the manufacturer knows they have a wide and captive market to sell to and with a figure like Vader they sold thousands.

Due to the increase in price I've gone from buying about 6 figures a year to .

Vader is my first figure this year (I ordered him last May) and there will also be a 1/6th General Grevious released in March...he looks pretty special so I may order him.

This is a figure I have waited a long time for. Its a solid metal die - cast C3PO.

I managed to get it online in a clearance sale from a shop in Japan.

    He weighs a tonne!
