"Bears. Did you hear that rick? Now your puttin the whole station in jeopardy!"

This is almost as surprising as learning that San Diego means a whales vagina!

Amazing news... just hope they get Carell back!

Delighted to see this - Anchorman is one of my all time favourite films. The only worry is that it's going to be incredibly difficult to make a sequel that will be anywhere near as good...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,976 ✭✭✭Brendog

    +1 Zascar.

A brilliant breakthrough comedy and one of the few that has nearly suffocated me with laughter.

It'll be tough to follow but I'd love to see what direction they take.

I hope they dont go back to the well too often with old jokes and gags, if they can freshen it up a bit they could be onto something but something tells me, like Hangover 2, there might not point making another if its just rehashed comedy.

    I hope I'm wrong though.:(

Its because its being viewed so much that the true total is continually being changed.

Its the same with big movie releases. "The Dark Knight Rises" first trailer spent a week at 305 views then it had 11 million.

    Can't wait!

Something I read earlier said that Carrell and Rudd are on board along with the original writing/directing/producution team.

no mention of Champ yet though :(

I thought the reason for it was because Youtube had to verify that it's not being view-botted?

/On topic, can't wait for this but there's a sense of apprehension at the news of a sequel that needs to live up to its predecessor.

    Steve tweeted yesterday..
Watch Conan tonight. You will be glad that you did.

So from that, I take it he's on board.

I really don't like Conan with his beady little eyes so its nice to see a legend like Ron Burgundy putting him in his place "Page 1 re-write"

Going to the cinema now to preorder my ticket.

This is one instance where I disagree! I hope it's not exactly the same, obviously, but I hope it's in the same vein. First one was so strong.

He was the weak link imo. Wouldn't be upset if he didn't return for the sequel.

I woke up to this news and have been smiling ever since. I've little doubt that, though it might not live up to the hype, it'll still be a great movie. Considering all the cut material that they used for Wake Up, Ron Burgandy, I'd say they're more than able to come up with enough ideas for a new film (and considering they've been planning it since the first one, they probably have most of a script plotted out already).

Judging by the first one you'd be pretty much spot on with your thinking there.

The first film was funny, don't get me wrong - Steve Carrell alone is a hoot - but I've never quite understood the level of giddy excitement Anchorman seems to illicit in people. So in that sense, surely a sequel can only ever turn out to be a disappointment to the fans? I'd hope not, but these things do tend to be ...

Sequel will take place in 1978, with the news team having to get used to an ever changing environment in the News reporting industry

They've got about 5 pages of story notes written atm, as well as chunks of the story itself and they said they are holing up writing for next three months

Good news - Christina Applegate is back for the sequel! The boys men will not be pleased. :D

I've never really understood the obsession with Anchorman, to be honest. I found pretty funny in places, but I didn't really have the response that most other people seem to have had (the constant quoting, etc.) and I'm not a huge fan of Will Ferrell. I'll probably see the sequel, but I expect people will be disappointed.

How many times you watch it? Wasn't too gone on it the first time I saw it but it really grew on me after that.

Can't see the sequel living up to it either though.

I've seen it a good few times. My housemate from last year loves it and used to stick it on from time to time and quote it all the time. It is pretty funny and very quotable, but I've just never had the same kind of love for it that most people have.

Ferrells career has been waning for the last number of years so its indicative of Hollywood, trot him out in a guaranteed cash cow to get him back in the public eye.

All it means is that it will result in a whole new generation of douchebags sporting Ron Burgandy costumes at Halloween.

    Whooppee.
