So here i sit 20st 12lbs delighted with myself after losing 1st 7lbs since 20th of febuary

I currently commute to work on my MTB with conti double fighters fitted a distance of 1.7kms.

I do this trip 4 times a day (home to work, work to home, home to work, work to home) at an averge speed of 12.7 miles an hour.

I also do a 10km cycle twice a week Tuesday and Thursday at an averge speed of 12.5 mph. I know these figures as i have the RunKeeper app on my phone.

I Plan to keep this training up and getting involved in a cycling club once my fitness improves.

Any hint or tips that you guys can provide me with would be greatly appreciated

Just keep it up! Cylce quickly becomes addictive and with the weather we are having at the moment...

Maybe set a goal, like a sportive or something. I started last year and did the Sean Kelly Tour 50km. Tell people that you are going to do it and set up a sponsorship page on mycharity.ie - it gives you that extra motivation and reason to cycle when people have sponsored you to do something.

Well done and keep going :). What's your weight target? Have you changed the way you eat any?

Thanks guys .. Fatigue at the moment I haven't experience as Of yet , I don't feel I go far or fast enough to feel the effects..

Weight loss target I would be hoping for around 16st and then work on toning up

With regard changing what I eat , not really I just kind of eat what I want but it's all in moderation .. In saying that I haven't touched takeaways in the time I've been training , I keep off the very bad stuff aswell..

A typical day could be 2 slices of macambridge with laughing cow on them for brekkie.

Lunch: Whole meal roll with salad and ham and cheese or chicken with jalapeños

Dinner: could be anything from chips to steak to turkey sausages etc really what ever I feel like

    Hi Gers Punto,
Congrats on your progress to date. That’s great news and it must be a great feeling.
I'm trying to lose some weight also. I've managed to lose over 1.5 stone and I have another stone to go. I've done it through cycling, weights and diet (but its mostly weights and diet). I find that the diet is the key for me. For the first month, I eliminated the following from my diet:
All carbs (potatoes, rice, carrots, parsnips, pasta, etc....)
No bread of any kind (rolls, Panini, ciabatta, pizza, etc...)
    Sauces
    Sugar
    Milk
    Alcohol
    Fruit
What I have brought back into my diet now is fruit, carrots and slim line milk that I use to make a high protein shake with. I do this in conjunction with going to the gym on a daily basis in the morning for 20 mins (weights only). It’s not for everyone I guess but it works for me. I cycle in and out to work every day also.
    Keep up the great work.

Well done! Keep up the good work. Eat good and keep up the cycling. Swimming is also a great way to lose some pounds. I myself have lost over a stone since February. Finding it harder now, I have hit plateau but I'm not giving up:D

17.05kms with an average speed of 23.55 kph

Found that adjusting my saddle up just half an inch I'm getting an awful lot more torque

Done my first 20kms last night :-)

    Actually 20.68 in 1hr 3 mins ...

I found it a lot easier than previous cycles even though I went further ..

Is it an urban myth that when cycling your not properly warmed up for an hour while on the bike ??

    Going for 22 tomorrow night

Yes, unless you're trying to shave seconds off in some balls-out time trial.

Even then I personally wouldn't warm up for more than 20 minutes or so.
