    Who do you fancy?

    Personally I'm going for Rory.

    It won't be Tiger.

If anyone's looking for value Harrington is 120 on Betfair, 68 on Betdaq & 66/1 on PP. I've backed Paddy at that 120 and will lay off at 70.

Another to watch is Bubba Watson.

How do you plan on laying Paddy at 70 when he's probably going to be a one-way train to 1000!

I don't think it will be Tiger or Rory. I don't like someone taking 3 weeks off to prepare for a major. It just makes me think that Rory is thinking about it a little bit too much

I haven't decided who to back yet. Probably wait until the week to make a final decision.

I expect the odds on Harrington to shorten over the next week or so.

I'll let you know how I get on, as it gets closer I might lengthen my odds.

I'm taking comfort from Paddy Power offering 66/1 that I'm on the right track.

Tiger winning last night was brilliant for me.

Cause now I have a better price on the man that will win the masters. No clues needed.

Of course another banker is to lay whoever wins the Par 3!

Nothing original but i think Rory or Tiger will win it. The bookies will have specials in the days leading up to it so wait until then to have a bet.

lefty @ 11/1, you know you'll always get a run for your money
keegan bradley @ 40/1 is worth an e/w punt

Letsbet doing a free competition to win a €100 free bet. Handy for those who cant afford a bet but want an interest.

Mickelson will need to up his game a huge amount to justify 11/1.
If you're after a lefty, Watsons still my pick there.

I wont be doing any bets untill the wednesday before it starts because the prices will rise on most players and the odds are usually at the highest then.

Ladbrokes and Williamhill are usualy best if memory is correct.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭bren2002

KJ Choi @80 on Betfair, or 14.5 got a top 5 finish. He's always been there abouts on Sunday over the last few years.

Betfair is better than them all

Not chance he shortens to 70. He's freely available at 80/1 with a number of bookies and while that's there he probably won't go below 120 on the Betfair win market.

Fwiw, I actually think he's a bit of value at those prices

Going big on Donald and Westwood for this major and every other major this year. I can't see us going through 2012 without one of them winning a major.

(cut to 12months from now and I'll be posting the very same message for 2013)

    There's four I'm looking at:

    Kevin Na 200/1
    Kyle Stanley 80/1
    Keegan Bradley 33/1
    Brandt Snedeker 70/1

Will decide on two to bet on, any feedback would be welcome.

Paddy Power now refunding all losing bets if Tiger wins. Paying 6 places as well.

6 places, E/W McIlroy has to be the bet?

Lay Tiger Top 5 finish, 2.28 and that'll shorten further. Could probably hit 2.0 before the off.

    Edit: Done, laid at 2.1

I'm a big fan of Watson, but it should be noted that he's just adopted a baby.
Might be wise to swerve him till things settle down for him.

At 9\2 thats going to work out at little better than evens to place. You'll only make a very tiny profit if he places but doesnt win

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,536 ✭✭✭AngryBollix

I'll probably go each way on Adam Scott and Luke Donald

That makes no sense. If you think it'll shorten further then why are you laying now? Would you not just wait until it does hit 2 and then lay?

Yeah have to go big on Rory with PP.

Also think John Senden is massively overpriced at 200/1 with PP. Looks like his putter is working and he's perennially in the top 5 on tour in GIR.

Actually you're right, and thinking about it it was probably a stupid bet. So I've closed the position, and made a 5% profit!

    .

how to u justify that comment
    Mickelson
    a) Has won 3 Masters tournaments in last 8 years
    b) Has finished in the top 10 14 times at the masters
    c) He is not defending champ this year and if you exclude his performances as defending champ he has not finished out of the top 5 in over TEN years
    d) he is in good current form both this week at Houston, and has a win and runner up via playoff already

looking at his record it looks like the groutch has very justifiable reasons for backing Mickelson, after all he says you always get a run for your money, certainly at the Masters this has previously been the case

you do like putting people's posts down, don't you?

remember lasy year you said Dustin Johnson was the best bet of the year for the BMW championship,so much so you didn't have a bet for 5 weeks leading up to it.
How much did you have on him?

He finished T65 out of 69 finishers.

You gave me 'worst post of the year' for tipping Donald for the us open, the reason Donald wasn't competitive was the wet weather leading up to it made scoring very difficult for him compared to the big hitters but you never thought of that.

Anyway, just wanted to point out that your posts don't annoy me,i find them amusing at times(like the time you layed 2 players in a comp and they both end up in a playoff and you STILL made a profit???????)but a tad sad.

    ......and back to the masters.......

i am adding Keegan Bradley to my list of picks (Donald/Westwood). I want to pick an outsider as well and currently thinking Bo Van Pelt, if only for his putting stats and nothing else.

was thinking Thomas Bjorn, it was only a couple of months ago and he was flying, anyone know his current form 150/1 so may pick him over Van Pelt

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 700 ✭✭✭FernandoTorres

Johnson Wagner is my outside e/w tip at 150/1. He's playing pretty well this year and played the Masters once before in 2008.

First timers dont have a great record at Augusta (Stanley/keegan) while Na has played and missed the cut twice. Snedeker has shown promise at Augusta and is one of my each way bets.

My bets so far are Mickleson,Snedeker and Watson (Bubba).

Big Guns (Woods and McIlroy) v The Field

The Field at 2/5 looks mighty

Bubba has been playing some good golf recently, but loses the head easily and Augusta will make it even worse for him. If Mickleson can sort out his putting then he will be thereabouts.

I'm inclined to agree with this man. 2/5 for anyone but McIlroy and Woods to win? This is surely far too big even at 2/5?

yes if you had the cash you could defo do no worse that making a small profit with some in running betting on the other 2,chances of Woods going pillar to post is slim to none imo.....Rory would be a concern though if you were putting down big money
