Eddie Rockets Kinsale Road- worst service ever??

Ok just got back from this place and I need to rant. Myself and the bf went here because we like the food but I'm never going again.:mad:

We were completely ignored by staff for 15 mins before they even came near us and took our order. When we gave our order we were told we would have to wait half an hour for our food. I figured it was very busy so fair enough! Ordered a starter and made clear we wanted it as a starter first, because the last two times we went they brought the starter out with the rest of the food as well.

Anyway half an hour later the waitress comes over with our burgers. I asked where our starter was and she said they forgot it. She said we could have dessert instead but that we couldn't have the starter. I explained I didn't want a dessert but she just said the starter wasn't an option now.Eventually I said fine I'll just take the burgers because we were starving.

Went to pay and complained about the terrible service. The girl was quite rude and basically said 'fine, don't pay for it so'. We didn't of course. I just want to say I have absolutely no problem paying for my food and would prefer to actually get what I ordered than get it for free!! OK RANT OVER!

Has anyone else found this place terrible??

I've honestly never had a good meal at any Eddie Rockets in Cork.

Food and service has always been shocking.

Not overly impressed with the place. The speed of service was fair last time I went but the "food" was poorly cooked.

McDonalds is actually nicer. Whenever I've eaten in Eddie Rockets the food was always served lukewarm. blah!

I thought that sort of Celtic rudeness disappeared now that people know that they can't easily skip off to another job. I wouldn't pay for that sort of 'service'. Clearly it's poor management because they should never have hired staff that act like that. Take it higher: Call her boss and see where it goes?

Never eaten there, but since I've never heard anything good about Eddie Rockets, i'll probably never experience the slow food revolution that you did!

That place is a joke, we were with friends at a Munster match over in Musgrave park last Nov.
So the match ended and we were all hungry, 4 adults and 3 kids, so we decided to head for Eddie Rockets.
In we went, the place was practically empty, some guy was cleaning one side of it and TOLD us to move when we sat down. So we followed his order.
Then the hostess comes along, her attitude was bad. We wondered what exactly was it that we had done to upset them. The time was now 10:30pm.
Soon after, some other people began to arrive in, same as us, people on the way home after the match. What we thought was bad was they were turning these people away. Infairness closing time was 11pm, this was 10:40 ish, just we assumed that closing at 11pm surely meant last orders at that time.
In total they refused 12 people in all, access to the premises, must be a busy place to be able to afford to turn way that many people. When the food arrived it was flung at us.
The actual food was not great, but we were starving and did not expect much better. We got the impression that the staff wanted to be out of there as soon as was possible.
As someone above mentioned regarding being glad they had jobs, the strange thing was, none of the staff were Irish.

eddie rockets is woefull , cheese like plastic and the chips are way too salty , one time I ordered the nachos meal , it was microwaved , roasting on outside lump of icy meat in the middle , absolutly vile .
captain americas on the other hand is brilliant , same price but real food

I have honestly never had a bad meal in Eddie Rockets....:o Maybe I have bad taste in food! One of my friends was very sick after being there once (but then this was after a night out so she might have a bit of trouble blaming it on a burger:P). She still goes there though.

I think their burgers are lovely....and chips....they are a bit overpriced alright but, yerra I don't go there that often so it's all good:D

In many fast food places, machines that look like microwaves are actually specialist high powered ovens,

As for eddie rocketts, they are all franchised, so bad service in one should never be attached to another branch. Waterford branch alway grreat food (for what it is) and excellent service. - Always busy too!

I said microwaved because thr food had cooked on the outside but not in the middle , which I know happens frequently if you microwave something out of the freezer .

true you cant label them all but the op was talking about the one on airport roundabout , i'm talking about the one on north main street . Clearly the owners of the franchise dont inspect individual branches or have lax standards if they do

Yeah serious issues with the pricing, menu and service, especially the service they seem to be always noticeable pisshed off, I went in with my partner before because they had a meal offer on and when I was told I can't have that we're too busy when they were half empty I was about to walk out but I said okay then I'll just have chips my appetite was turned off by her rudeness (obviously the way she was speaking to us was appalling) and she brought the food and didn't bring me a fork, and there wasn't anyone on the floor.

We did go the manager after and all we got was a I'm so sorry.

Nice burgers, alright. But scanty coke servings and ****e chips. Compared to nice burgers at ER, Sweet Potato fries and a hefty coke? That's why I choose ER.

I've been at empty pockets in Carlow a few times and I have no problems , bit pricey allright but food is always good and I've 3 young kids and the always give them colours etc and make sure their food is out quick.
To be honest those kind of details make a big difference to me.

If closing is 11pm I wouldn't have gone in at 10.30pm tbh, if the staff took in 12 people between 10.30 and 10.40 they could be there working 'till 12, if they are paid up to 11 I can see why they refused those folks.

Shame on them your food was awful though.

I reckon they get their core business from the Travel Lodge so unfortunately might not be overly bothered otherwise, appalling attitude to have.

It sounds like it could well be worth their while to offer promotional specials when there are matches on in Musgrave Park and lash out some leaflets at the match and stay open a bit later as required :)

Ok so glad to see its not just me who have had problems!! I just think its appalling service in general. In Cork anyway!

but it wasn't just one girl, it was the entire staff. Or at least any staff I talked to.

Pretty much our experience too. It was like they wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible too, but it was only 6 o'clock! They clearly don't like their jobs!
    it was microwaved
I hate this in restaurants!! Must try Captain Americas some time though.

I do agree its a great deal but I'd rather stretch my money a tiny bit farther and get some nicer food, with better service. Loads of places out there.

Closing time and last orders are two different things though. I know most cafes/restaurants have a policy of last orders always to be placed 15 minutes before closing time. When the place closes for the night, the staff need to count the till, clean down the cooking equipment, mop and clean the floors, tables, dishes, etc. They can't do any of this if customers are still in the joint.

Please don't lump all the Cork Eddie Rockets into the same boat. I've no doubt you had a negative and unsatisfactory experience in Kinsale Road outlet, but I have to say the peeps in the Blackpool one are very friendly with good customer service. I work nearby and go there to grab a coffee most days, and eat there once a week. Never once had a bad experience, and I never had to wait more than ten minutes for my food, even at very busy periods.

Never had any particular problem with them. I would go occasionally rather than regularly because it's a little dear for the type of food imho.

On a different note. Why do the Mods allow a thread like the above and close one like this:

Surely they are both freely discussing customer service?

You are probably right on that one. I was just going on what people have said in this post and to me IRL as well. Haven't tried the Blackpool one. However my experience in the Kinsale Rd one would put me off going to any of them TBH. But point taken. I won't put them all into the same category from now on :)

I hate the one in Kinsale Road, was in there once and chomping away on my chicken fillet burger, and I pulled out of my mouth, a VERY long and curly black hair. Bleck, puke, vomit!!!!! I didn't want to cause a scene, so I ditched the burger and said i'd eat the chips instead. Found a short black curly one in my bowl of chips! More Bleck, puke, vomit!!!!!!! I wanted to leave there and then. My other half said to the guy when we were paying about the 2 hairs, so he said "Okay I won't charge for the drinks" We only had one each!!!! I should never have paid that night, vile, disgusting, still turns my stomach.

The food is only okay too for the prices they charge. If I want to go to Eddies now I go to Mahon Point but that would be very very rare.

I know there were three girls working that night. One of them I recognize from being there a few times and she is lovely. I am not for once saying they were all horrible but the two girls that i dealt with did not do their job properly or professionally. I have worked as a waitress in many a busy restaurant and I just think that you don't bring out main courses without knowing if the starters have gotten there and if that does happen you don't tell the customer you cant have the food you ordered. No matter how busy it is. I also had no problem waiting 30 mins for my food because I was told about the wait. However it was the 15 mins before anyone came near us to take the order. This is just my experience though. Glad it was a good one for you :)

It's the one in town that I go to - never been to the one in Blackpool or Kinsale Road. I'm amazed they are still open though, even after nights out (which is usually when I go) they aren't even busy which you'd expect them to be cos they are very near many popular bars/pubs..

    Hi Guys,
I've been in the Kinsale Rd roundabout eddie rockets, (beside travelodge), about 6 times in the last 6 months. I have to say I've never had a problem there. They are a bit expensive but I like it for a treat now and again. Food was always good and served quickly. Never had a problem with staff at all.
Thats my tuppence worth anyway. I havent ever been in any other eddie rockets branches.

McDonalds always leaves me hungry. which is weird seeing as the calorie content is so high. And nowadays i don't find them as cheap, there was a time when you could get a big mac meal for 5-6 euro

This is because McDonald's is not actually food, it is more akin to plastic. Very little nutritional content in it.
