Replace tiagra 9 speed chainset with 10 speed?

My tiagra 4500 chain rings are looking a bit shark toothed and need replacing soon.

My dilemma is that the only stock around seems to be stronglight rings and ignoring the cheapie dural ones then 2 rings cost the same as a new chainset. Unfortunately it is the new tiagra 10 speed whereas the rest of my drivetrain is 9 speed.

Does anyone know if the 10 speed chainset will work ok still with a 9 speed chain? Please

I would have said 10sp chainrings should cope.

I'll risk it. Seems pointless to buy chain rings instead of the whole thing. Thanks
