Most of the connaught pre-liminaries not kicking off till the start of May and Athlone have a bye in a couple of the first rounds ( wooo! ) so we're not really getting started till mid-may.

Hoping to get on the Junior Cup and Jimmy Bruen teams this year. Come on the town! ;)

Barton Cup- Moyvalley win 3/2 against New Forest

Druids heath beat Blainroe in barton cup 3-2. All home matches won.

Playing Powerscourt this Sunday so hoping to give em a bating. They prevented me from playing a practice round last monday as 'they don't allow guests on a bank holiday'. For the record i wanted to play at around 3-4pm and as far as i know the course was completely available so was furstrated as i'll now be playing it blind on matchday

Ah they're probably only at the mind games with ya... it's all a part of the game, innit?

I know ya, a bit frustrating though, i'll have to make sure that i fire some of it straight back at them come saturday, might even throw in a few offers to call 6 footers etc.:D

When they see your 'puny' 280 yard drives they will be lulled into a false sense of security. Hitting them with the good good on those 6 footers will then really make them scratch their heads, that's when you need to go for the jugular.

You playing East or West course??
I played East on Sunday... couldn't hit my putts hard enough after playing DH on saturday!! Greens recently pole forked/sanded (aren't they all!!). Hopefully the rain/sun the last few days will have helped. Still managed 34 points with 2 scratches and 3, 3 putts:)

BTW.... Druids Heath v Woodenbridge on Sunday 15th in the Leinster Fourball.... DH have 3 at home..... I'm playing in Woodenbridge :D

You just rocked up to Powerscourt unannounced and expected to get out for a practice round?

Nope, i think you're insulting my intellegence there shreiking. I had my team co-ordinator call them on Good Friday to ask if I could book 1 time for 4 team members on Monday at anytime but preferably between 2-4pm. They got back and said that they don't allow visitors on weekends or bank holidays. Despite the fact that the match was only organised on the previous day. So the bank holiday weekend was the only chance that the DH team could potentially play it if they work mon-fri like i do. Extremely poor form in my opinion.

    Any other questions?

lol. It's Shrieking. And I apologise for any offence caused.

Good luck in your match. It's a gorgeous course, and I always think visiting teams have a little extra chance of winning on nice courses. Playing away on crap courses with bad greens has got to be tougher.

Cheers and apologies for my dislexia (prob spelt wrong), as u can see, i tried to arrange a practice round through the right channels and gave as much time as possible considering when the match was organised and Powerscourt couldn't have been less helpful in facilitating this which really makes me want to win my match :).

Glad to hear its a nice course and yes i think its always easier and more enjoyable to score on nice courses. Hope the weather holds up

Get there an hour early grab a buggy and fly around the course and have a look at the holes, bring a laser with you and measure out what you need to if you have one, ring first and get permission to do so if they will not allow arrive earlier and just walk it ?? Its all quite self explanatory on both the courses up there. I know this is not the ideal but to be honest no real reason to play it blind. I do believe its poor form what ye gonna do. lovely track and as shrieking said its a course you should warm to and will help raise your game !!

    Good luck

Waterford beat us (Gowran Park) in the Barton 1st round. They won both matches at Waterford and the 1st one out at Gowran. I was last out at home and we were 1 up playing 12... good match but painfully sloooooow (match in front was on 15th when called in).

Hard luck, well done in your match though. Druids heath beat powerscourt 3-2, all home matches were won. I played away and lost on 17, tee to green was great but we struggled on the greens big time with many 3 putts and a 4 putt, opponents played very solid and their putting was the difference.

Still though on to the next round with a potential local derby against the glen.

Unlucky there Redzah! Greens can be difficult up there.
We (Druids Heath) won our Leinster fourball fixture against Woodenbridge with 4 wins and the 5th match called in. I played in Woodenbridge and we won our match 3 & 2!
    Onward and upward :-)

you should be eligible for the cecil ewing team event. Keep in eye in the locker room, the team captain will shortly be putting up an "who's interested" in playing list, so be sure to put your name down for a trial. Can do you no harm and be good to get you involved with the club :D

in other news, Athlone's Fred Daly team through the first round ;)

Coollattin I believe are Disqualified from Barton Cup for playing a player off an incorrect handicap. I believe the Garden Trophy they won has also been retracted !!

What a rookie mistake to make if true

Just played their course today, practice for the provincial towns, shot an 83 off their blues, course very very soft.

Is suspect they will have all teir handicap sheets when we play em on sat!!

Think the guy was playing off 6 when in fact he was a 5 or something like that.
Sure is a rookey mistake and to be honest quite inexcusable. Between the manager and the player what were they thinking.

Matt- Dublin I would be amazed if they have the handicap sheet to hand, I have played on the teams before and never recall seeing it, not to say they dont have it but I would be suprised. The place gets destroyed once it rains but in general its only the rough ground from tee box to fairway, fairways and greens normally hold up very well.

6/5, Cat 2 to Cat 1 difference. Hmm... I'd have a hard time believing that was a "mistake". Embarrassing.

Well I know the integrity of the club and although lots of bandits down there I can assure you it was a genuine mistake. That said one that is just not acceptable in my eyes
