Does anyone know of good swimming lessons or an instructor for one to one classes in Dublin city centre or northside.Have a disc injury and am being told over and over that swimming would be great.I would definitely be nervous of the water but hope that I could overcome that.Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Hi,

I did some years ago in the Markievicz pool (near Tara St Dart)
    http://www.dublincity.ie/RecreationandCulture/SportsFacilities/SwimmingPools/Pages/swimming_pools.aspx#markievicz

I enjoyed them but they are not as good as the lessons I'm getting now (mainly due to the difference in class size, I get more individual attention now and my swimming has come on a lot because of it). The instructors were very patient and well-used to people who are nervous and afraid of the water.

From their price list, it looks like they do individual lessons as well as the usual groups.

Hope you find something that suits you and you enjoy it!

I know there is a guy called Tony and his son that do lessons in the pool in Belvedere college. They do various size classes and levels and I'm pretty sure they do individual lessons also. While I did not learn to swim there I have had coaching from Tony and found him to be very good and very nice. I have no contact details for him but I'm sure if you rang the school on 01 8586608 they could put you in touch. Good luck!

Check out the Swimming forum. A few people in there are swim coaches and would be able to recommend a good group/coach for your needs. Often in gyms you'll just have a fitness instructor who can kinda swim but has no idea how to coach it giving swimming lessons.
