A New Clan Name

I think our clan name sucks to be perfectly honest. I would like to propose a new name. Lets be honest here, Boards is a silly name for a team.

I have thought on it a bit and like the name The Wild Geese.

The Wild Geese were mercenaries from Ireland who fought in wars all over Europe.

Thoughts please.

I also propose a new emblem....... A shamrock that would signify where our clan originated from and can stand proudly on the Clan Wars map.

I still stand by my original oppinion of Muppets or The Muppet Show with Gonzo as our logo :P

All of this is theory though as you can't change guild names at the moment (i.e. we'd need to create a new clan and lose our existing land).

In fairness though, I would only consider changing it if we were to get TIISD to change also.

We could have a main clan name with 2 divisions. The divisions could have individual name that points to our old origins.

i.e

'War Torn Heroes - Shamrock Division / Iron Division' [WTH-S] & [WTH-I] or something like that.

It would make sense to change it then.

I would personally like a name that could give us [WTF] or [GTFO] tags

the unofficial poll stands at 18 for and 18 against atmo, but we would have to have an official poll for and against a Clan name change before we do it.
followed by a poll with all suggestions and logos

so far we have

1---the wild geese [WG] (this could cause problems as every1 would think we were wargaming couriors and would kill us on sight)

2--- the muppets [TMS?]

3---Dearg Doom [DOOM] (translation red destroyer)

I like the shamrock/celtic symbols , nothing too nationalistic like but still recognisably irish even though the celts came from all over europe , just like the clan !

I definitely think if we go ahead with this, that TII need to get on board. We could have a main clan symbol which would have distinguishing elements for each division.

This means we could both keep our individual identities, while being under the same clan banner.

it has to retain links to clan origin , also as dub said tiicd would have to be a division - this also helps to strengthen the outside view of the clan (eg others will realise we are 150 odd members)

JUst realised changing the clan name is disabled as yet.

So in order to do this we'd have to disband both clans, and start 2 new ones.

That would be a right pain in the arse, and we obviously could not continue to hold land.

So its not an option really. If we lose all our land, we would then have the option - we could give the 2500 from the clan treasury to maybe myself to set it up, but we'd have to have enough gold to fund TIICD to change also IMO.

I don't think we'd get away with a lot of these names anyway. WG support have absolutely no sense of humour for anything even slightly cheeky.

Bastard is not a swear word such as those you've listed. The Polish one is actually particularly bad - the word can also be used in the context that we would use the 'F' word.

Well, I applaud WG then. There really can be so-not-fun if not offensive clan names that can be made by people with interesting sense of humor. I saw a lot of them in various MMORPGs.

Well if they ever implement the clan name change feature, we'll think about it then. (is it in 7.2??)

AFAIK there is still no timeline on the introduction of the ability to change the clans name.

If we want to do this, it will have to be done as follows:

1. We lose all current land
2. Disband clan
3. Set up new clan with the new name
4. Invite all members back

Now, there is a cost associated with this, so what I would propose to do would be to take whatever gold is left in the treasury, and use 2500 of it to set up the new clan.

Any gold we have over that amount I will put back into the treasury, or indeed it will be used for such things as changing the logo and the colour to match any alliance we are in (it comes out of my own personal account first anyway, not the clans treasury).

Would this be something that people would be willing to do?

Im all for the name change, but its probably best just to wait until the option becomes available.
there will be a window of opportunity though when we leave Africa and have no land and maybe disbanding followed by invites will give us the needed purge of inactives the easy way.
