Program filesd folders and 64 bit win 7

    64 bit windows 7 but this PC can also have 32 bit. It had 32 bit on when new. I changed to 64 bit to get rid of a lot of preinstalled crap. Now I have a C:\Program files folder, a
    C:\Program Files (x86) folder and a
    C:\Program Files (x86) (x86) folder which has only my lexmark printer.

    Should I have these folders?

    In my C:\Program Files (x86) windows defender is missing MpSvc.dll and a program called svchostanalyser says windows defender is atypical/suspicious because of missing this dll

    Yes. 32 bit programs will automatically install in the x86 folder(s).

    Not too sure about the other (x86) folder unless the printer wizard created a new folder on installation.

    C:\Program Files (x86) this is where 32 bit software installs to.I dont know about the C:\Program Files (x86) (x86)

    Sounds like a bug in the Lexmark installer. The Program Files (x86) folder is a "compatibility" one for older 32 bit applications. My guess is a Lexmark developer hard coded the install folder location incorrectly, so that that output appears

    I have windows defender in the C:\program files and it has the dll

    If this is your Windows version
    Version: 6.1.7600.16385

    then you can download the missing DLL file here.

    To find out the version of your OS, open a command prompt, type ver and press Enter.

    Or open a command prompt with admin rights, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

    Note: If the Windows installation source is not on the hard disk, the system file checker will prompt you to insert the CD/DVD.

    sfc /scannow found no problem
