Weak Postural Muscles

I'm a golfer and recently have been getting 9 out of 10 pains centrally on my back in between my shoulder blades. These pains would come only after a period of sitting down and then getting up and always were worse after golf.

A chiro loosened me up for a while and I carried on playing with short spells of pain here and there.

I got fed up with these 'short spells' and went to a golf physio and the diagnosis was I have weak postural muscles from years of bad posture and the golf uses the 'weak' muscles a lot and they get strained and sore. I am now on a programme to fix this and after two weeks of specific exercises every second day the progress is slow and the frustration is building again.

I thrust the physio completely and believe what is being said but I'm losing my mind not seeing any progress or major reduction of pain.

Am I being too impatient and irrational? Has anyone had anything that sounds similar to this and how long does it take to get back to strength and pain free?

Thanks for reading and any advice / help you can share.

I know this is the last thing you want to hear but its going to take a lot longer then two weeks to fix your posture! Think about it, it took a lot longer than two weeks to mess it up so it's goin to take a while to fix.

I'm in the same boat myself, years of sitting at a pc for work has a balls made of my posture. Upper back was always rounded and made me look like a miserable little lad! My upper back is fixed now, happened so gradually that I didn't even notice it. The only problem with my posture now is my head sticks to far forward, goin to be another while fixing that.

So just remember that while you don't notice the changes now, stick with your physios exercise and you will notice differences in the future!

Thanks for the reply. I know it'll take a long time for the posture to be fixed but I'm getting stressed at the time taken just to get rid of the pain I'm getting from it. I was expecting the muscles to start getting stronger after a couple of weeks work.

    Cheers again for reply.
