Is it just me or does it bother any one else when you hear people say "me" instead of "my". I know each to their own but gosh it annoys me to listen to it. I'm hearing it on tv a lot lately "me pencil, me friend, me runners".
Do you agree it's not correct english? Although, I think a lot of people up North say it?

Far more common in Dublin and it's grating on the ears.

I agree, it's not correct english and it does annoy me when people on television can't pronounce words properly. Particularly when it's news presenters. Frequently mispronounced words that irritate me most include three, thousand and other.

My mother says it all the time. Drives me nuts. She also says "them" instead of "those"

    Hey there,

You might be better off checking out Linguistics & Etymology or if it's just a pedantic complaint about the use of specific language then requesting membership to Spell Czechs might suit better.

Either way, it's really not a discussion topic pertinent to tLL, so thread closed.
