    Hey guys, how are things?

I've been thinking for a long time now for a way to get into the industry, either as a personal trainer or gym instructor, etc. but I don't know where to start.

I've seen the National Qualification in Exercise, Health Studies and Personal Training in the Mardyke Arena but not sure how good it is.

Other courses like Recreation & Leisure Management in CIT are attracting me but I don't have the LC points that I need.

Can anyone else point me to any courses that'll give me the credentials to make a start in the industry and work my way up? Thanks guys.

There is a new course available in cork that my mate just did which is meant to be completely leading the show now. NEFPC, fully accredited and all that, nationally and internationally. You also learn to teach trx, kettlebells, Bootcamp , Boxer-size, its meant to be great.

    Best advice i can

I did the course with the NTC. The content is fairly basic, aerobic training, resistance training, exercise to music. The teachers are all decent, some are well into their fitness, some are really unfit (which shocked me). It's the course to do as a foundation.

From what I've seen you won't get to do any of the more advanced topics (strength and conditioning being one example) without having a foundation in the basic run of the mill stuff.

I'd recommend the NTC course, it's costly (2,000) but it is a good place to start. It's fairly boring if you're not new to that kind of stuff though.

If you're over 23 go apply to college as a mature student (too late for this year so you'd have to go in 2013/2014 probably.
