Oh it's never good when that happens.

    Will it be abandoned?

No reason not to play 2nd half assuming Muamba isn't dead (not watching but it sounds more serious than the BBC5 reporter initially suggested).
Muamba dropped to floor with noone near him

    the below suggests otherwise

    this is from the guardian
45+1 min After a brief chant of Fabrice Muamba, the crowd falls silent. Nigel Reo Coker is on his knees, resting his chin on his fist. He looks like he has seen something truly awful.

44 min There's a woman crying in the crowd. This is horrific. The whole crowd is completely silent, and medical staff from both teams are gathered round Muamba. ESPN's cameras are not even showing the players anymore. Howard Webb has both his hands clasped together; he looked in a lot of distress.

42 min Fabrice Muamba has suffered a very nasty injury. I'm not sure precisely what happened, but you can tell from the grave tone of the ESPN commentator Jon Champion – and the body language of the players – that it is very serious. Rafael Van der Vaart has his hands over his face, and ESPN's Jon Champion says that there are attemps to resuscitate Muamba. This is awful. All the players are in complete shock

Ian Dennis, BBC Radio 5 live's chief football reporter, has just reported that Muamba is fighting for his life.

    :(

Can someone say what they saw? Apart from Muamba on the deck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭Doyler92

Apparently it may be a bad heart attack.

BBC and ESPN using the phrase "fighting for his life". Screw the game, let's hope he pulls through.

When I posted up top I going on what I knew from BBC5live, unfortunately they are covering the rugger so only updating during quiet moments.

Had to turn over, felt sick to the stomach. I hope he is ok.

When the camera showed him on his stomach uncontrollably shaking, instinct was to turn away.

In Mike's defence, the BBC coverage at the time Mike posted just said that the player had gone down with an injury, and made no mention as to how serious it was.

Anyone have a gif or video of this??

Horrible incident, hope he's okay. Right decision to have the game called off. I think I'm correct in saying it will be replayed in full at WHL?

This happened pver 20 minutes ago and they just said they are STILL trying to resuscitate him :(

Had to abandon it - the result of this match is irrelevent when one of the players is fighting for his life.

The fact that he said "if he's not dead" was a bit callous and suggests an awareness of the seriousness of the situation.
Out of order in my opinion.

Jesus, following all this online. Doesn't sound good. We could never have gone back out with what happened him. Spurs players also in shock. Trying to find out what's actually up from bwfc officially

Heart attack is suspected, they were using a defribulator on the pitch. BBC reporter in the tunnel said Muamba wasnt breathing as he passed on the stretcher. Very very sad and shocking.

Only Mike can answer with what he meant, but I would be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt on it. I doubt he would have used the same words if he had been aware of how serious a condition the player is in.

Unbelievable, he's only 23. Hope he pulls through, it sounds to be a very serious situation.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,630 ✭✭✭✭antodeco

Sounds like at least a heart attack, but may possibly be a lot worse. Shocking to see and hope its not as bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Absolutely shocking, am praying he can pull through.

He was one of my favourite players when he was at Birmingham, can only hope the strength and resolve he showed on the pitch will carry him through this horrible incident.
