I was looking for these a while ago but everywhere was the usual price for a pair and it was well out of my price range , I searched online for about an hour and i came to one of those made in china sites , kind of like alibaba but it had a lot of different manufactures from chiona .

I emailed one of the manufacturers and asked if he would sell small quantities of the plates as opposed to 1000 pieces minimum bulk orders.I got a reply and a quote for 6x 20kg bumper plates for $119 USD or €119 , I cant remember right now but thats about 19 for each plate and he said the price went down per plate the more i bought. The only problem was the shipping , he quoted me $800 for them which is reasonable but too expensive for me on my own .

Im wondering if anyone would go in on a big order of plates with me and we would split the cost of the shipping and cost of the plates. Im sure we could eache get about 6 plates each for maybe €100 - €90 and pay about €200 in shipping which all together is a million times better than any other price ive seen . this is like the ones Im talking about

I don't want to p!ss on your chips, but be very careful with stuff from China. They've a terrible rep for just getting a picture of something and making something which loosely resembles it but lacks the function.

I know Mickk (and probably Irishlifting) had a limited run of bumpers in stock that were much more affordable than most I'd seen. I think Mickk's travelling at the mo so you may be waiting on a reply, but if you get in contact with the IL lads they might be able to offer a solution.

    Just a thought!

These are the cheapest I've seen online but I don't know about the quality. They look fairly close to your price range. Shipping might bump up the price a lot so check with Irish Lifting too, I think a few people here have got theirs from them.

If you have a good weightlifting bar, elieko, werksan etc., cheap plates may not be good for them.

Thanks for the replies , i know there are other options but i wouldnt mind taking a chance with the china brands ..... I just think theyre all overpriced and even the cast plates are a bit on the pricey side .

You wont get bumper plates ordering from China. You will get iron plates covered in a thin layer of plastic that will crack and break fairly quickly when continously dropped. They also have a nasty habit of filling the iron with sand to save on cost. We have eleiko zhang kong werk san etc. here but we also have jordan bumper plates (half the price) and all I can say is the jordans hold up well in comparison. Spend your money on a good bar and the bumpers only need to be average.
