One profile running slow

    Win XP

Have 3 user profiles on the machine and one is running particularly slow. Everything - software and basic tasks e.g. calling up task manager - does run but very slowly. Can't find anything that would suggest malware and running the usual scans show nothing (they take forever to run).

The other user profiles on the PC run fine. Any pointers as to what it might be?

What does taskmanager show for cpu usage in the affected profile, and what is the process with the highest cpu% when you sort by % by clicking the cpu column header ?

Not in front of it now as it's out in the folks place. Seems that CPU is running at 50% or higher. Nothing odd in the task manager. I did notice that at one stage there were 2 instances of iexplore running.
