DIM supplement for man boobs?

I am trying to get rid of man boobs and as well as doing all the usual things (not drinking beer, not eating processed food, doing weights and HIIT) I have read in a few places that DIM works well for helping get rid of them. I know the ingredient is found in brussel sprouts/cabbage/brocolli etc but to be honest I found find it hard to eat those things every day so I was thinking of taking this supplement.

Has anyone here tried it and got decent results from it?

I was about to buy it from amazon but when I looked at the reviews it was all women taking it for menopause and stuff like that and then I read someone say it helps the body produce appropriate levels of estrogen, so now I'm confused as to whether I should be taking it or not. Opinions?

most man boobs are fat not gyno

drop body fat and they might go away
    don't and they won't

Either you have [Bexcess fat or you have adipose tissue [/B]around the nipples and int he general area of the pec.

Excess fat can be removed with diet, exercise and reducing your intake of foods than promote estrogen production.

Adipose tissue cannot be shifted with diet, exercise or in fact anything else except surgery.
Adipose tissue IS body fat. It's just the scientific name. Everyone has adipose tissue. You don't need surgery to remove in adipose/bodyfat (except in the case of medical conditions)

Gynecomastia is excess adipose tissue AND breast tissue and may require surgery. Most people with moobs don't have gyno are are just overweight.

Have you gone to your GP about it? All the fat loss and muscle gain in the world won't help if you actually have glandular tissue as apposed to simple excess fat.

I feel for you but not in the way you might think.

There isn't really any such thing as "man boobs". They don't exist. There's a very rare condition known as gynomastia, but it's not common, and chances are you don't have it. Man boobs are a construct, a meme, a societal gag to mock men who are a little tubby. If someone tells you that you have man boobs then they are doing the modern equivalent of asking someone to do the Truffle Shuffle in the 80s.

Now what we have is hawkish surgery peddlers advertising cosmetic man boob removal and so on because they want to make money from people who are self conscious. Don't listen to them. Listen to me, internet-stranger-man, and do more exercise, gradually lower your bodyfat through diet, and lo and behold, your man boob problem will go away as if by science.

Just wondering how the OP got on with the tablets for his man boobs?

I suffer from these as well and they are ruining my life to be honest. Everyone stares and I don't even think mine are that bad.

I never want to go swimming, go on holidays etc.

If those tablets worked for the OP I would love to hear.

I can guarantee the tablets didnt work.

Read the last sentence of the post just above yours (barrys post)

    The answer lies there.

    There is no short cut.

Thanks John. Yeah, that is a very sensible post. It would be interesting to hear how Delad got on though, whether he actually went for the tablet approach, or the hard grind to get rid of them.

You are probably right though, it's best to knuckle down and work hard.

    Moobs = fat
Exercise + good diet + calories deficit = fatloss (Moobloss)

You say its ruining your life, Use the above and do something about it. It really is that simple.

    There is no shortcut.

Slow sensible progress. Dont launch gung-ho into a diet plan as the chances of you keeping it up is slim.

    My plan would be

-Begin with moderate cardio exercise for two or three weeks
-Add some weight training (especially on your pecs though I wouldnt neglect any area) to build muscle to the first step.
-Begin to work on your diet getting it in order. Even taking it on a meal by meal basis /day by day until you get an overall handle on your diet

Slow steps slowing changing your lifestyle.

    Many thanks John, very sensible.

I guess the OP was a bit silly thinking it could be done the lazy tablet route.

as well as doing all the usual things (not drinking beer, not eating processed food, doing weights and HIIT)

OP is attempting to do all of those things too. HIT is high intensity cardio btw.

OP I would think posting up your current diet would be a better idea than looking for a pill, we might be able to point out some alternatives that would help increase the speed of fat loss. (adjusting some of the things you eat etc).

Well first of all I'm not fat, I'm 6 foot and 12 stone. I developed man boobs when I did GOMAD. When I finished GOMAD and starting cutting I lost the fat I gained during that from everywhere except on my chest. I never did get round to taking DIM, I just heard from a personal trainer that it worked well for many of his clients.

I have been doing HIIT and weights twice a week and have noticed a small improvement recently. I'll keep on doing that and if no more improvement then I'll book in to have the medical procedure to fix it. From all accounts it sounds a fairly routine and easy procedure and gets rid of the problem without any fuss.

Ok, so our problems are different. I am overweight.

Is it possible that the milk consumed during the GOMAD programme, caused in man boobs, in the same way that womens breasts get larger when they produce milk?

haha I think it just fcuked up my hormones, in hindsight it was stupid to be consuming so much of one product in such a short space of time

Oestrogen from the milk probably. Could just be a coincidence also.

I've had a really unshapely chest since my teens. I'm 22 now and through diet and exercise I managed to lose 5 stone last year. At one point I was 68kg at 6'1'' and actually looked pretty underweight. Even after my body fat had dropped quite low my chest still bounced around and was probably the least asthetic part of my physique. I've always thought I had gynecomastia but feel quite uncomfortable going to the GP about it as I was worried he'd just put it down as just fat (which seems to happen to everybody who asks about it online). I eventually stopped eating at a deficit as it was pretty clear my chest wasn't improving and my friends and family were beginning to think I had an eating disorder. I've decided to try the other route and have been slowly bulking up for about 14 weeks now. I currently weigh just under 78kg and look alot better than I did at my lowest. I plan to bulk to around 80-81kg then cut to as low body fat as I can, hopefully maintaining the lean mass I've built. If I feel my chest still looks terrible at this point I'll go to my GP and see what he says.

I'm not looking for medical advice or a diagnosis, but I am wondering what other peoples experiences have been with gynecomastia in Ireland? I've searched a few threads but they seem quite old. Are there many out there who have gone to their GP's about it? What happens then? Is the corrective procedure covered by insurance? From what little I've read it seems like whether or not you get a referral from your GP is entirely at their discretion... This makes me a little anxious as I feel I'd almost have to convince the GP that I have the condition and that I've put in a year and a half of dieting down and dieting back up with near obsessive commitment to the gym. My chest looks a little bit better than it used to with the added muscle, I almost feel like that hurts my chances as a doc will see my current position and decide it's not a big enough deal.

    Define common?
What % of men with moobs have gyno?

Surely if doing a small amount of exercise is showing a small improvement, then the next logical step is to increase the amount of exercise you're doing (i.e. more session/week) instead of planning for surgery? Routine surgery is still surgery. Going under the knife when it's not actually necessary seems pretty bizarre...

Up to 70% of teenage boys are affected, for most it goes away in late teen's or early 20's but out of the 70% 40% will have it into adult hood.

These are the same stats i have gotten from many medical websites although they do seem a lot higher than i thought.

It's a lot more common than people think, the reason you don't think that is because a lot of people that have it are embarrassed and hide it away and don't tell no one. Just ask any plastic surgeon, this is a very common procedure.

70% of teenage boys and 40% of men have gynecomastia.

Or 70/40% of those with moobs.

My body is still sore for a few days after a workout so thats why I don't increase it.

Also after I did Gomad and started cutting, I got down to a very low bodyfat, but the fat on my chest remained. I thought that maybe the fat on my chest was just the last stubborn bit of fat to lose, so I carried on working out every 2 days and lowering my food intake to the point where I started to get very thin. I was beginning to look very unhealthy and yet still the fat on my chest remained.

So I am pretty much resigned to having the medical procedure done at this stage and would very much doubt that even if I worked out 7 days a week that it would make much difference.

Sounds like you've approached it all wrong. First weight gain, then workout, then diet, then surgery, and thoughts about medication too.

You should probably seek professional advice.
