Non Drinking activities for St Paddy's?

I am new in town and a non drinker any sugesstions of how can I get the most out of my time in Ireland without needing to go to the pub?

Seriously though, if you have a backyard/balcony, I would suggest a BBQ if the weather holds up If you don't have one, get a disposable one!

Yes, seriously this.

The cities and towns will be full of messy drunken cúnts who will cause trouble and wreak havoc. Every knacker in Dublin heads into the city centre and causes a mess.

It's not worth it and I genuinely feel terrible for any tourist coming here to enjoy "St.Pattys Day".

5k race through city centre on the 18th is good, did it last year but can't this year otherwise would defo do it.

I know plenty of foreigners who make it to Dublin every year for St. Patrick's weekend because they enjoy it so much.

I head to Dublin most years too to mingle with them and enjoy the craic it has to bring. Stop generalising. Not everyone feels the need to 'wreak havoc' after a few drinks ffs.

Yeah well anywhere, even when it's crawling with drunken knacker kids in the middle of the afternoon, beats Dundalk, doesn't it? I'd say it comes across as a sophisticated metropolitan utopia in comparison to the stuff that does down in your neck of the woods.

Dublin during Paddy's day is an absolute nightmare. The pubs are to the brim, the publicans rip everyone off and outside the pubs are drunks making a mess of themselves and everything around them.

Yeah 'cause the country really needs a day where people, including children, go into the city centers and towns and get out of control drunk, causing trouble and damage?

You have people who go to the parade and are hugely disappointed, and people who go into pubs and get out of their face drunk and either forget what happened (therefore, by default and until proven otherwise, a great night apparently), cause themselves or others problems or leave a mess for someone else to clear up.

Typical oul OIreland though, right? If you don't get off your face drunk or criticize others for doing so, you're a killjoy, of course! I mean I've lived in Dublin all my life, I know what the city center is like on Patrick's day and yet I've some clown from down the country telling me I should like the behaviour that takes place there or else I'm a snob.

Saturday is the opening qualifying round of this year's Formula 1 season with the Australian GP. Stay at home and watch that instead.
Also you'ld wanna wake up early on Sunday to catch the race at 6am if you wanna watch it live, which you should cuz it's gonna be a cracker!

Time much better spent than going into town which is gonna be full of drunk people stumbling around...

club finals in croke park, then find a decent place just outside the city centre for the rugby in the evening.
i'm a non drinker, and would avoid the city centre except for the night before when it's good craic. it's seriously messy in the few hours after the parade too. all the scummers are drinking on the streets, and the tourists seem to like packing themselves into temple bar.
there's usually some stuff on at merrion square too.

Yea because the only possible outcome from having a few beers on Paddy's day is to get into a mess and remember nothing.

Maybe it's you who needs to dial down the drinking if that's your only experience and stop slating the rest of us who know how to enjoy themselves without going too far.

tbh the amount of fordiners who come away from this weekend having had a great time is crazy, I wouldnt feel too sorry for 'em
