iTunes Unable To Read The Contents Of My iPod

    Anytime today when I've connected my iPod to my laptop, this comes up in iTunes:

    "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Go to the summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings"

    I haven't restored it because it would take far too long to put all my music back onto the iPod. I'm just wondering what I should do to fix this.
