Not a big betting day for me.

So far I've just done a double of Binocular at 6/1 and Quevega at 4/7.

I think I'll back Mossley at 16/1 for the 3 mile handicap chase.

1.30 Have Cinders and Ashes at 20/1, might put a bit on Colour Squadron at 14/1 as his price is too big.

    2.05 Sprinter Sacre

    2.40 Quantitiveeasng 6/1

    3.20 Zarkander W/O HF 5/2

4.00 Scotsirish is a class horse, wont be betting much in this race though!

4.40 Quevega (Banker of the day) Kentford Grey Lady without.

    5.20 Nothing yet!

    Treble of SS,HF and Quevega.

Does anyone fancy Darlan tomorrow. I had him backed the last day when he was cruising but fell over. If he travels like that he's sure to be close

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭mccarte2

Supreme - am on Cinders and Ashes at 25's. Tempted by Distant Memories at 50/1 e/w too.

Arkle - Had been on Peddlers at 7's. Unlikely to have a bet in it now.

JLT - Billy Magern to run into a place

Champion - Am on Oscars Well at 25's e/w. Battling for place money I suspect.

Cross Country - Seeing JT up on Dancing Tornado has my attention so happy to take a punt on him at a value price.

Mares - Had Swincombe Flame at 14's e/w in the hope of Quevega not showing.

Novices H'cap - Harpsey Cord will carry a few quid as part of an e/w Lucky 15 with the bolded ones above.

Yeah I have him too. Slightly worried he seems to prefer the heavy ground though.

Also have SS in the Arkle.

If either of them come in I'll lump a good portion on HF in the Champion Hurdle. Get the bookies on the run on day one!

Placed a Lucky 15 in Feb with two running tomorrow
    Al Ferof 5/1
    Quevega 5/4

Also got a treble that starts tomorrow
    Hurricane Fly 4/5
Quevega 4/7 going on to Sizing Europe the day after

And a cheeky e/w on Wedger Pardy in the X-Country (not placed yet)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 349 ✭✭shy-tall-knight

Fancy Distant Memories to run well, he must be showing well at home for him to be sent for this considering he's had just the two runs over hurdles. 50/1 is big for a group 3 winner.

Really fancy Scotsirish in the x-country.
Did menorah each-way last week, reckon he could be the one to follow sprinter sacre home.
Going with zaidpour in the betting w/o hurricane fly.

Fair age alright these days but went for it on the basis that I don't fancy backing anything with Patrick Mullins on it (Scotsirish) and it got within 2 lengths of that one last time out. So it was between Garde Champetre and Sizing Australia - who was receiving 17lbs last year in this race, and is now only receiving 7lbs from GC. Think there's one last big race left in the old stayer.

He's no fool, but Patrick isn't a great jockey. His stats flatter him to a certain extent because of the horses he gets from his father. I think it's safe to say if you did a survey on this website about whether a punter would put the bank on him to win in a finish for them, the result would be rather lopsided.

Ya true. If it comes to a driving finish Id prefer to be with Nina on garde. Can never go wrong with that girl

    Hurricane - Binocular
    Sprinter - Al Ferof
    Might be handy enough odds

Dont be worried about the ground. When Byrnes was asked about "How would good ground suit him ?" His response ---- "Sure doesn"t good ground suit every horse" . I"m having another cut at him at 10s . Best bet of the meeting IMHO . Best of luck to all.

    20 @ c4/1 on Betfair. Quietly confident.

    15.20 Hurricane Fly 5/6 40.00 e/w Double MEGA NAP
    17.15 Triolo D'Alene 6/1 NAP

13.30 Supreme Novices' Hurdle Hazy Tom e/w Single 66/1 20.00 - Odds are big for this , no doubts has the ability if trainer gets it right

1:30 No bet - 19 runner novice hurdle not my type of betting race -Harringtons horse Steps of Freedom has good course form - also is this the race Boyles are offering money back if an Irish winner - if thats the case I might try a small bet on Darlan just for some interest

2.05 Al Ferof - Best offer of the year from paddy Power - they got away with it in previous years remember Dunguib -marketing tool to get punters into their shops early day 1 - take advantage!!!! offering money back if the odds on fav wins - take Al Ferof if it hits say 3/1 - 50% chance money back - 25% chance 3/1 winner - 25% chance loser. Its max bet refund €100 so might need to be creative. Al Ferof - mixing it with good horses - won at Chelt last year

2.40 - 19 runner handicap chase no thanks

3:20 - Zarakander e/w - 7/1 now - super e/w bet - effectively getting 7/4 on the place - course winning form - plenty of scope for improvement

4.00 - No bet - Scotsirish is supposed to be a class ahead of the rest but not a race I have had much joy with in the past so will avoid

4:40 - Could be a good thing but a 1/2 fav mare who hasn't run in 300 odd days - good bet might be say 6/4 or 7/4 the field and have 19 horses running for you

    5.15 - No bet

I find it hard to see him win, I think at his best he is a 167 horse, 7 or 8 Ibs below HF.. Wouldn't be surprised if he finishes out of first 3..

Oscars and Zarkander to finsh behind the Fly..
