Torres cost more. Don't see how it could be anyone else.

Konchesky... how Liverpool payed ANYTHING for him is just rediculous!

I'd pay €35m for Carroll anyday before paying a cent for PFK.

Don't think you can call Torres the worst ever as he could get 20 a season for the next 4 seasons! From a Chelsea point of view, I reckon Sutton, Kezman, Veron or del horno.

    Whoever said Flo - blasphemy!

micheal owen, madrid to newcastle (never played, always injured)

djemba djemba so good they named him twice

    kleberson

    david bellion

andy carroll ( going to go down as the biggest flop in history)

torres (even though i still think he will come good, at least he has talent unlike carroll)

    chamak

    crespo to chelsea

    mutu

veron both united and especially chelsea

Seth Johnson - Derby to Leeds for £7m and a stupid salary (over £30k a week when his agent was only looking for about £15k). When he wasn't injured he somehow managed to play about 50 games and was generally useless. In the end Leeds couldn't even play him because they couldn't afford the extra payment based on appearances that would have been due to Derby and he was let go on a free.

Two pages, and no-one has mentioned Arshavin? Lol.

Arshavin would be near the top of any list.

Wenger has had some great signings in his time but has made some awful signings as well, particularly in defence.

Some of his best signings he got on the cheap, some of his worst he paid fortunes for.

I think Alex Ferguson has made very few poor signings down through the years, maybe a handful, as opposed to the dozens of successes such as the likes of Sherringham, Solskar, Cantona, Keane, Cole, Yorke, Tevez, Vidic and so on.

Possibly the biggest flop is Berbatov.

Another good manager in the transfer market is David Moyes who gets great players on the cheap and makes them play above themselves. Great manager imo.

Well like I said it was hard to find one, almost all Ferguson's recent transfers have been good, and the young players will come good when it counts as well.

Maybe unfair to pick on Berbatov, but I don't think he ever fulfilled his potential at united, he was even dropped from the squad for the Champions League final from what I remember. A player who was paid almost 30 million for, should be in the starting line up every week.

In terms of expectation I'd say Torres. Right now it looks like he's passing time until his career ends.

Shevchenko and Veron were pretty bad too.

Though at least Kaka was the real deal for a few years at Milan.

Back in 1998, Denilson was hyped to the moon because he could do some fancy stuff.

Trevor Francis was the forerunner to the overvalued overhyped overpaid primadonnas that plague our game today.

Not saying Francis was a bad player mind.

Roy Wegerle was another one, doubt if many here remember him.

Ah come off it, he wasn't that bad. He belongs nowhere near the names on this list. Never had a huge amount of talent but handy enough. He was a bol**ks to find as a sticker in Premier League 94 though.

a man with just under 50 PL goals for united, in 82 starts is a flop?? 56 goals in total, top scorer in the PL last year.

united overpaid for him, cos they f*cked up the deal, tapped him up and basically had to pay another 5 or 6 million to stop spurs taking action against the club. his real transfer value, if the deal was tied up much earlier, would have been about 24 million.

overpriced yes, a flop no. we may not have won the league last year, without him. blackpool, liverpool and bolton were all late, vital wins where he scored the winning goals, that 6 extra points we got, directly due to his goals, not even taking into account the other 15 he got.

to label a man a flop, in a club that has signed the likes of bebe and veron for over 30 million together, is baffling to be honest.

Anyone see Arshavin stats when he left Arsenal? Very impressive stuff.
Veron gets a lot of stick. Yes he didn't live up to his price tag but he wasn't terrible.
Bellion cost 3M, Djemba-Djemba the same. They where signings like Chicharito. If it didn't work out who cares but if they do hit then you have hit the jackpot.

Luther Blissett to Milan was a big fail.

Ibrahimovic going to Barca makes Torres to Chelsea look tame but Barca were able to re-coup some of their losses but I doubt Chelsea will do the same with Torres bar Anzhi are looking for a white elephant....

David Bentley. Even though was almost worth it for that one goal alone :)

    Kaka - £56 Milan ---> Madrid

For a lad that did so well at Milan it was expected he would do wonders for Madrid. He has been in an out of the team and for a player that joined in his prime at 27 has very little to show for it.

Torres is still only 27 so can still turn it around, unlikely but could still.

Ibrahimovic did score 20 goals in his only season at Barca
    he wasn't a flop
its just the season he arrived Barca realised Messi was at his best in the Centre so they didn't need Ibra anymore

You're contradicting yourself. They spent all that money and a player for someone that didnt buy into their playing style, wasnt happy that a winger took the only position that he could play. Maybe it was a case of what Messi wants, Messi gets but he should have sorted all that out before he signed the contract. He didnt and was happy to take the money and with all the things we know that happened during that season, to be loaned out with a fee agreed after one season makes you a flop, imo.

    Jesus Christ.

    This is just so wrong.

    So wrong.

I'll elaborate for anybody who lives under a rock,

Ibrahimovic, 23 La Liga starts - 16 La Liga goals for Barca 29 total apps in league
Torres 21 Prem starts - 3 Prem Goals for Chelsea 36 total apps in league

Ibrahimovic - 0 apps in spanish cup
Torres - 5 Starts in english cups - 0 goals

    Ibra, 9 starts CL - 4 goals
    Torres 7 starts - 2 goals

    So to recap

    Ibrahimovic - total starts - 32/ total goals - 20
    Torres - total starts - 33/ total goals - 5

    Seriously

Who was Veron a bigger flop for in peoples opinions. Obviously United paid alot more money but surely Chelsea paying approximately £15 million for him after seeing what he was capable of in the league was just as big a mistake and I don't think Chelsea recouped anything, maybe a few million for his different loan spells.

I acknowledge Veron wasn't that much of a failure but just vastly overpriced and unsuited to the league.

when they bought Ibra they didn't know Messi was at his best through the centre
they only tried it 2/3 way through the season which concluded in Messi going on a great goalscoring run
this resulted in Ibra being dropped & Barca knew he wouldnt settle for a role on the bench so they sold him
he scored 16 goals in the league helping then win the title
    so he wasn't a flop
