No problem. Yeah apparently they are closing down their stores going by HUKD. They say the high street stores have lots of stock and consoles marked down by a fair bit. Anyone know if this is the same in ireland?

    Whats the BT11AA trick?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭WarZoneBrother

OMG I was trying to get Castlevania and by the time I was putting the order the price went up to £50  Anything else I can get for about £5?

Where you select united kingdom as country, and fill in rest of the address as normal as you would for buying in ireland e.g. put Dublin in city etc.

And put BT11AA in postcode. Ive done it before for HMV UK and amazon and it works fine. It takes maybe a day or 2 longer to reach you, but you save a fair few quid on postage. Basically it gets sent to Royal mail in belfast, and they redirect it down to south of Ireland as they see the county in the address.

Im not sure man, try www.gamestation.co.uk also

Check their new games section also and sort by price low to high as theirs some new games for about £5 I think like fallout new vegas etc.

was in the dundrum store earlier and there were loads of mark downs on used stock. pretty much everything was reduced.
also noticed ps3 keypads reduced to 9.99, was tempted to get one. might go back

How much you get charged for Castlevania it's trying to charge me £50?... Also is GAME actually closing down?.. If so when?

Are the Irish game shops closing? I have a lot of points built up, if they are closing I would need to use them asap I suppose.

They are closing 35 stores across the UK I heard, as they nearly went bust, but some say they will be closing all the stores in may/june, as both GAME and Gamestation are not making much profit any more. I imagine the irish stores will also be closed down then also if it happens.

    more info here: http://gamepolitics.com/2012/02/23/uk-games-retailer-game-closing-35-stores

I would use them quickly if i were you, it doesn't look good for Game atm unfortunately. Closure beckons.

are the prices for consoles good enough?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,965 ✭✭✭Cherry_Cola

Wiis for £40 isn't bad, different models of PSP ranging from £30-50 also but I don't know if these offers are in stores here.

I had a look in the Ilac centre game at lunch time. No sign of any great bargains in there. Also no sign of Mass Effect 3 on the shelves. HMV and gamestation hs it in stock.

To me that means that the Irish shops are under the same threat of closure as the UK ones as they can't get credit to stock ME3.

They wont ship any consoles or hardware over 1kg to Ireland ,too heavy .

Some insane prices there but long gone.

I bet their closing down sale in Ireland will still have dearer prices than most online stores.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,442 ✭✭✭MickShamrock

I ordered Gears of War 2 preowned for about 2.37 Euro when converted and used BT11AA for free postage. Lets see if it arrives now!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,359 ✭✭✭ldxo15wus6fpgm

Looks like they will more than likely be closing soon, They're not selling anything new by EA or ubisoft and apparently they're not getting on too well with nintendo atm either!
Ordered endwar, brink, bulletstorm, kane and lynch and formula 1 2010 for 12 quid last night! doubt I'll ever get them though.

Are the Irish stores doing any kind of a sale like the UK counterparts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 885 ✭✭✭kendragon

Just popped into the game store in limerick. They had that pricecrash sale on the preowned games but nothing substantial from what I could see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭mcgovern

Was in Game in Blanch, there was much better value on 2nd hands games in there last week.
Dead Island reduced to €29.99 pre-owned, €25 brand new.
They had a handful of games (mainly old FIFA/PES) for less than a fiver but the good reductions from game.co.uk where twice the price in store.

Any chance of a list of what you got? Went in today and most of the decent games were around the €13-17 mark. Didn't have much time to look around though.

Hopefully GAME doesn't close here in ireland since they were cheaper compared to gamestop a good bit of the time.

Not to mention that having them as constant competition for gamestop and HMV is probably a driving force in keeping the prices low. I do know that a mate of mine, who used to manage a gamestop here, used to price-watch the GAME around the corner from their store and beat their prices when he feasibly could.

Must try it that trick on ebay sometime, see what happens
