Random Photos XXXVI - DO NOT QUOTE PHOTOS - 800PIX LONGEST SIDE

Welcome to the Random Thread XXXVI.

This thread is for random pictures of random things in random places by random people - so basically this is the place for random photographs. The photographs should be your own work; when we say random, we mean that there's no set theme, and no provision for C&C, for example.

Welcome newbies... Always great to see you moving away from lurking to taking part - we won't bite (eh... too often).

No expectation of quality or content. It's for everyone. This thread exists because it is good to share Please familiarise yourself with the rules before posting.

A little discussion is allowed but don't enter into debate or offer C&C as the thread is intended mainly to show photographs.

Please "Thank" images that you like. This forms the basis of the Photo of the Week, which is posted a few weeks after the images to allow viewers to vote.

Thread rules [Please Read] NB - IMPORTANT STUFF NEXT

    * General Charter Rules Apply

    * All images must be 800 pixels or less on the longest side. Any posts with images which break this rule will be deleted.

    * No Quoting Images - Please don't include the original picture in your reply to a post. You can modify the quote to include the linked URL of the image if you like.

    * Making your picture a link to the page it's hosted on flickr or pix.ie or elsewhere is both handy for us nosy lot to find the rest of your stuff, and also generally considered the polite thing to do by the image host. Indeed for some including pix.ie and flickr, it is a condition of using their service.

    * No arguments. Self explanatory really.

    * If you have a disagreement with a photo, use the report post feature - don't go abusing the poster.

    * Try keep to one or two images per post. Then allow some more people to post, then feel free to post again. Do this as often as you like!

The most important rule: Enjoy and have fun.

If you find yourself on the wrong side of these rules, prepare yourself for your post to be deleted, or if you've been feicing around repeatedly, stronger measures will be taken.

The last thread is located here.
    Thank you.

If you do actually read this OP please add a "Thanks", so we can see who bothers. :D

A crocus flower petal on a mirror, then surrounds filled in with black, pleasant enough effect with very little post processing involved.

Not an amazing pic but love the story : this is the lake where Petticoat Loose was cursed to stay forever. It's small but very deep. Does not get much light, but a lovely area to walk. The area is spectacularly invaded by rhodedendrons (which give every photograph a silverish glow in season despite all the purple).
    9EF668ABE128429C85C52BA80FB1C1DC-0000341098-0002768206-00800L-21AA87CEF94C4CD29EB9740621EA9777.jpg

edit : quote : In the district, much more attention is given to the supposed actions of Petticoat Loose, in seizing unsuspecting swimmers by the leg and dragging them down to its bottomless depths. What actually happens, is the lake’s upper warmer layer, the Epilymnion, is very shallow, due to the sun excluding high cliff on its WSW side, the water very quickly at a meter depth, getting much colder. Thus a swimmer going out into the lake and then tredding water, has their lower legs in much colder water than their upper body. This leads quickly to severe cramp and potential drowning.

The lake is a glacial corrie, dug out by the last of the ice age glaciers. It is exactly 30 meters deep. It has been the scene of many suicides, including a young suitor of a Dromana heiress, who didn’t match up to the her father’s standards.

Was out back having a smoke when this bumblebee came along. To hell with getting the camera: I had barely enough time getting a shot with the iPhone before it took it's fill and went away :D

Aside from Snapseed, is there any decent apps for taking photos with the iPhone? I'm spoiled by the dot on my 450D to allow me to focus at what I point at :o

Nerve-racking is the conventional term but I love nerve wrecking:)
