That's a good price, but 50kg is not very much weight. You'll outgrow it very quickly even just doing upper body work, and it won't be much use at all for squats or deadlifts.

I was thinking about it more for the dumbells as I'm in an apartment in college and a barbell isn't really suitable. Well, it might be but I'd have to store it somewhere.

If I wanted to get barbell and everything, how much weight should I be looking at? I can lift 70kg on my brothers weights (all he has, but I doubt I could do much more). I think the brand is "York".

Well if space wasn't an issue you could get an Olympic set like this, but since it is then dumbbells are probably a smarter option. Check argos.ie, they sell a variety of dumbbell and barbell sets and you can buy individual plates from them too, so you could pick up extra 5/10 kg plates to up the weight if needed. In my experience, you could expect to fit three 5kg iron plates on each end of a standard dumbbell handle, and the handle+collars are around 2kg total so you'll max out at 32kg without 10kg plates. Don't go with vinyl, they're way more bulky and you can't fit as many plates on the bar. Hopefully that'll be helpful as a guideline for you to decide what you want.

Yup, I'll be going to the gym tomorrow and whatever I can lift, I'll get approx double that. And in cast weights.
