Arsenal vs AC Milan (2nd leg, last 16)

4-0 to the Italian Champions after the 1st leg.

Milan XI vs Arsenal: Abbiati, Abate, Mexes, Silva, Mesbah, Nocerino, V.Bommel, Emanuelson, Robinho, El Shaarawy, Ibrahimovic

Allegri true to his word. He's going for that away goal and I reckon they'll get at least one. Looking forward to this.

    El Shaarawy, nice.

    Come on Arsenal!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

If Arsenal can get to half time no worse than 2-0 up they could just do it, but Milan are bound to nick one on the break so I'll reckon agg of 2-6 or 3-6.

This or Brum v Chelsea? Now AVB is gone the intrigue has largely disappeared from that tie :)

I can see Arsenal scoring but they will concede. They have to go for it and they'll be exposed.

    2-1 I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Team VP will win 4-2 on the night i reckon.

there are a few players in that Milan lineup flaky enough to screw it up if the pressure gets on, but realistically, Milan will score, so it really is a monumental ask.

Yes! The road runner is playing!! El Sharaaway is going to be something else. Id have him in team before pato every game.

I'm also going for 4-2 on the night.

Mate of mine backed Arsenal 2 weeks ago to turn around the 4 goal deficit and progress. He got 40/1.

Paddy Power today have them at 16/1. That's some change, even taking into account the Spurs and Pool results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

My heart says 6-1 the Gunners, head says probably 2-2, 2-3 :(
Feck it anyways, Come on the Gunners!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,721 ✭✭✭CR 7

4-0, rvp hat trick, and milan win on penalties. Might put 5c on it later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

One goal for Milan and Arsenal will need 6. 40-1 sounds about right!

Boateng not starting gives Arsenal the faintest glimmer of hope. They will concede though, and there's no way Milan will leak 6 goals as dodgy as that defence looks.

Cant see us turning this around, but should be a great game to watch as Arsenal have nothing to loose.

Unbelievable stuff from Ibrahimovic, cocky ****

Bookies are f*cking people with 40/1 and 33/1 odds for Arsenal to qualify.

Should be in the region of 120+/1

Given that Milan are about 150/1 on I'd agree.

It would be fantastic if Arsenal could score within the first 15 minutes. The fans would really get behind them and it would make for a great game. If they could get in at half time 2-0 up they would have a great chance. Awful lot of 'ifs' though. That 16/1 on the comeback people are quoting is a pathetic price; more in the 80-100/1 region imo.

Strangely, i'm really looking forward to a game in which one team is already four behind. Probably because the other game is shíte, though. Wish it was like the old days with the four games on.

My neighbour placed a €50 bet at 1000/1 that Arsenal will win 5-0. I don't need to watch the match - just listen :D

The really funny part is he was complaining that they won't pay out if it is 6 -1 !

You do realise Arsenal back four is a very talented bunch individualy? The problem is a lack of organisation due to the constant chopping and changing this back four has had to enjure this season due to injurys.

Kos has been one of the best cbs in the league this year.

Not that I think we can over turn this though just want some pride restored.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,883 ✭✭✭smokedeels

I don't see it happening, Arsenal will get caught on the break too easy.

Would Arsenal fans be content if the team simply puts the effort in, even if it's in vain?

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

    van Persie
    Gervinho Chamberlain Walcott
    Song Rosicky
    Gibbs Vermaelen Koscielny Sagna
    Chesney

If Robin gets injured tonight I'm going to hire a hit-man.

It's hard to see that midfield trio making much of an impression. Milan should get plenty of chances.

I never gave that thought. Definitely going to overturn the first leg if they do too! :D

I'd disagree with that, but sure that is what football is all about, opinions and individual perceptions. Think Gibbs is a serious weak link.

The players enjoying the match and letting loose and a win is what I want to see tbh. Will likely still be a full stadium, may as well enjoy.

    Shirely goals in this?

In what way do you disagree with it? Not having a go just curious really. As someone who watch Arsenal week in week out Id say that back four is one of the best individualy in the league, Gibbs yes the weak link of the four but by no means a terrible player on his day, prefer Santos in there.

They just need to learn to play together, and Verm get his confidence back after loosing some of it being played out of position at Lb

Yeah Milan have gone very attacking too. Delighted El Shaarawy is starting up front. Fantastic potential.

Fao luvbulmers:- ( don't want to fill page with quotes )

You are kinda answering my doubt by saying that individually they are good, and that they need to learn to play together.

As yet they haven't learnted to play together which I think could be their downfall.

If they could collectively play to their potential I would have a lot more hope for them.

^^^ Well you did say if the back four played to there potential at the start ;)

The Gunners will be out gunned tonight because the great aristocrats of world football A.C. Milan are once again on the road to Munich and glory!

Full credit must be awarded to our benevolent patriarch Silvio Berlusconi who has once again given the club the personnel and backroom resources that are needed to succeed at the highest level.

    Grazie Silvio, forza Milan!

New prediction. Van Persie is due an injury. Will be taken off around the 28th minute and out for the rest of season.

Let's have an early Arsenal goal.
