Do my eyes deceive me or did Quazzie's thread on EPM's closing his account just disappear?

I'm guessing EPM doesn't want a fuss made above him leaving.

That's a real pity, he was always a very fair mod. It's real a shame that not only have we have lost him and -Chris- recently as mods but that they've closed down their accounts as well:(.

WTF is this all about? First -Chris- now EPM?

I can understand anyone stepping down if they don't have the time to mod anymore but why close your accounts lads?

Sad to see y'all go anyhow! :(

There's no big conspiracy lads, this place can be tough to moderate as it's so busy and not everyone has enough spare time to be constantly dealing with muppets, trolls and reported posts. It can take away the enjoyment from using boards.ie tbh.

Is it still personal abuse if we slag the Skoda lover now?

Seriously though, that's Two excellent MODS gone now. :(

Even though he banned me :P

Well I hope when he get's his sh1t together he comes back to us because he will be a MASSIVE loss to this forum. :)

Wasn't insinuating there was and as I said above I can understand why someone would not have the time to mod but they can stand down just like Limerick Man did before. I don't see the need to close the account, it's not as if everyone was ganging up on him or anything. He only posted an hour or so back in relation to ATWR.

I'm only saying this because it's very sad to see two fantastic contributors and two very fair mods close their accounts altogether. A great loss to the motoring forum IMO. :(

This place can get all to serious from time to time when looking at it from a Mods perspective. Sometimes people just need to step away from it.

He was a great mod, and changed this forum for the better.

Don't doubt that Alan but at the end of the day, this is a small community and a good bloke be he a Mod or not disappearing is never nice to suffer. I'd echo MCMLXXV in saying that while Moding might not be on the cards for him it would be nice if he had kept the account and stuck about now and again.

Irrespective of his status he was fair and knew his stuff and good to have about.

Two closed accounts and a deleted thread? I'm going to take a wild punt and guess that their problems were coming from above rather than from below. I wonder has anyone considered what'll happen when there's nobody left who wants to moderate Motors?

I deleted that thread by request from EPM. He didn't want a big deal made of the whole thing. I'm not the kind to lie or hide any boards politics, there really was no conspiracy.

I didn't mean that in any way against you. All the same, I stand by my point that we're needlessly losing good mods.

Jaysus did EPM go so I heard that he was abducted by a gang from the Czech republic and cut up in to little pieces before being laid to rest in the spare wheel well of a Octy..

Rumor has it he left something in the boot of his Octavia, went back to get it and the owner hasn't seen him since. Rescue attempts have been hampered by the deep cavern type boot that it is. Sources say a recovery from an Octavia boot is rare and they are not holding up much hope. :(

That's a lie. Everyone knows there's an old Corrado wheel in EPM's boot well.

EPM and -chris-, two nice chaps. Maybe they just got fed up of it all and decided to delete their accounts. Not a big deal really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,626 ✭✭✭An Ri rua

I got a call from a guy saying he was EPM from Boards.ie and he wanted to inspect my 2012 Octavia for a Boards Motors review. When he arrived, I foolishly let him and another Mod he referred to as Chris go for a test-drive.

I'm still standing outside my house over an hour later....Should I be worried....?

Most people are ok around here bar one or two clowns, this is not after hours. Plenty of nice posters around who would like to take up a job as a moderator, all we need is one or two.

Must be a hard place to mod, its very fast moving. Come back after an hour and there is 2 pages of new posts.

I liked EPM. He knew his stuff, and seemed fair.

    All the best.

Not wanting to start anything here but to be fair, we've two good mods left Anan1. I don't go around with my nose up anybodys ass so if this comes across as a brown nose session, be assured it isn't but the two mods we have are more than capable and their online coverage is also somewhat shocking. I wouldn't be concerned.

    I'm rather shocked at this.

Not good..........not good at all given that he was the driver behind the meets as I remember it being described as his baby by another mod.

I have to agree with some of what has been said.

Good posters have been lost of late, I know others have talked about leaving and now the MODS are bailing out. The place has been getting slowly quieter over the past 6 months and now some of the people who were the driving force in the background are now gone.

Remaining MODS, get together and sort out watever the issue is as it's not going away and is killing the participation of the regular motors users

I'd have a different take on things being honest.

I think this place has changed a lot, and for the better in the last year, and longer even. There is a much greater sense of community here compared to a year or two ago.
Regular meets are working out great with great participation from all around the country. The off-topic thread here has made things a lot more relaxed, and gives us all a place just to have a bit of banter without leaving the motors forum.
    johnos1984 wrote: »

As I hinted at earlier, and as others have said; this mod business is tough work. It can be great seeing a community grow and get better not just through us mods, but through the community as a whole. But at the same time there's a tonne of bull**** to deal with; which kind of goes with the territory when modding the most active motors forum in Ireland.

If modding starts to stress us out, or get in the way of real life, I think anyone here can understand the want to just get out, and not just the Modding side. Some people may come back, we'll just have to wait and see.

As said earlier the person who got it all together and started it and made the effort to talk to everyone at the meets has just closed their account.

I've done it before and the only reason anyone left was because of internal politics not because of trolls............

Far be it from me to tell you how to do your job (not aimed at you Alan just in general) when the positive points from the past 12 months are pointed out and the person who brought them about has just left you have to ask yourself is there something wrong.

I used to want to be a mod, not anymore tbh. Way too much work and since my job is purely internet based I'd never get anything done. Not for me.
